San Francisco at Seattle (2013 NFC Conference Championship): In-Game Discussion

lol i never really liked seattle but u gotta love a man who talks his mind in this PC world where everyone is walking on eggshells and trying to be corporately boring. people will hate him which is good for his marketability, he will be the most talked about corner since deion now

A "man who talks his mind"? If that's the content of his mind, he'd be well advised to keep it locked away.

He also finished second in his high school class. The fact that he made it out of Compton, California alone speaks volumes about the kid's character. That's what burns me about the guy. He's really an intelligent, well-spoken kid. Does charity work, provides for his family. Just a great all around kid. Until he opens his mouth on the field. Not sure if it's schtick, or just his way of preparing for the high level of play he strives toward. Larry Bird used to brush off opponents, not socialize at all with them, as he couldn't go to war on the court and still carry himself in such a manner by letting his guard down.

Because they wanted to start Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller instead. They drafted CJ Spiller in the top 10 and decided he was better.

The Bills lose for a reason. Some franchises get great players and just piss them away. That's why Eli Manning wanted nothing to do with San Diego. That's why the Jets always suck. You could give some of these teams Tom Brady or Brett Favre and they'd just get rid of them.

haha, or neglect to get good o-linemen to protect their QB investment and then get mad when their new QB cant throw the ball and gets sacked all the time.

Anyhow, yeah, the bills have mismanaged that team for a long time. They'll have a good RB and instead of filling other holes, they'll draft another RB and trade away their starter and the move will set them back 3-5 years.

why? this just made this man millions, he will be the talk of the country for the next 2 weeks and then get all kinds of commercial deals in the offseason. this was a complete win for him, boosted his name recognition and embarrassed one of his biggest rivals.

Can't argue this logic. People hated the Energizer Bunny by it helped Energizer pick up market share. In advertising it is better to be hated than unknown.

Funny you never complained about loud mouth Joey Porter. Hmmm wonder why?

"To those who would call me a thug or worse because I show passion on a football field—don’t judge a person’s character by what they do between the lines. Judge a man by what he does off the field, what he does for his community, what he does for his family. But people find it easy to take shots on Twitter, and to use racial slurs and bullying language far worse than what you’ll see from me. It’s sad and somewhat unbelievable to me that the world is still this way, but it is. I can handle it."

Yeah, some take it for granted but not all athletes take care of their business. I mean, at least the guy doesn't have eight kids by eight different women... My point is that he's a stand up guy in life, with a probably a schtick of running his mouth.

Richard Sherman is an articulate quote machine. And it's not his first meltdown. U Mad Bro? The rant at Skip Bayless on ESPN live "I'm better at life than you". He is constantly being interviewed on NFL Network and ESPN. During his bye week, he did the entire hour of the Fox Sports 1 pregame Sunday football show and was very smooth. When his career is over, he is going to be doing studio work and making big bucks.

I won't argue that the country is filled with simple-minded nitwits who, because they now know a guys name, will spend money.

It will be interesting to see what commercial deals he gets if his biggest imprint on the public mind is that assinine performance. These incidents are regularly followed by the "he just made himself millions" school of thought. Often it doesn't play out that way.

As for being embarrassed, I can't see it from any perspective that shows me that anyone should be more embarrassed than he. If a guy truly believes that his best path to fame and fortune is acting like a dooshbag, that's great. Just don't get all "please see the real me" when people say you act like a dooshbag.

Hate to say it, but Sherman did something very positive for his career outside of Football.

He created a name for himself with this haywire interview. Everyone that don't know him now does.

Bravo Sherman.

I felt the Skip Bayless thing was far worse. Imagine if bayless had said that about Sherman? Jesse Jackson, Obama, and Al Sharption would have staged a 3-day protest. Why is Sherman better than Skip Bayless? Because hes in the NFL? He probably makes more money than Bayless but that doesnt define greatness, it just means you have a lot of stuff. I mean, OK, Im impressed that he doesnt seem to talk like 90% of the gangstas out there but whatever.

And as for being a top student at Compton schools? Ummm.... yeah.... its like winning a body building contest in Ethiopia.....

Ok, respectfully have you ever been to Compton? It is the worst kind of trap for any kid growing up. The poverty there creates all sorts of obstacles to life. And my point was that the pressures these kids face, pointing them and steering them to a life of crime and irresponsibility is immense. The peer pressure alone to do drugs and be involved with gangs is very real. It takes an individual of significant intestinal fortitude and courage to not only escape that life, but to do so in such a glaring fashion as Richard Sherman.

And it's not like he went off and qualified for military service. Second in his class at Dominguez HS, Stanford grad, All-Pro NFL CB... I'd say dude has scoreboard no matter what malfeasance he has pulled. Just a shame he chooses this image.

The more I see/hear from Sherman, the more I like the guy. Hopefully he's not hopped up on Adderall like the rest of his teammates.

There are lots of people interviewed on the field right after wins an loses. Yet nobody else acts like that. Nobody else seeks the opposing QB out to smack talk him (although I loved it cause I can't stand Brady). He is what he is no matter if he can turn it off in an interview or not. And it is probably why Harbaugh said he wouldn't draft him. He isn't emotionally stable (not that Harbaugh is either  )

Maybe if Tom Brady wasn't sh!t talking several members of the Seattle defense when New England led by 13 in that game, and then when Seattle came back and won, Sherman might not have given it right back to Brady. Verdict: Justified.

Maybe if Mediochael Crabtree didn't sh!t talk Sherman to the media during the week leading up to the playoff game and then refused to shake Sherman's hand after the game was over, Sherman might not have gone so ballistic. Verdict: Justified.

See, if you can't take it, don't try to bring it in the first place. Richard Sherman is a role model.

Also, Jim Harbaugh is more retarded than retarded.

Wut. Wut.

So you think Richard Sherman is the only player in the NFL to get shiit talked during the game? Or to get talked about during the week leading to a game? Are you serious? That's all NFL players do is talk all game and talk all week. They all have huge egos. Sherman has thin skin and is not stable. It was completely evident to the entire world which is probably why most will all the sudden be pulling for Denver and their face of the franchise a calm, cool and professional Peyton Manning. Richard Sherman, face of the Seahawks. It's a shame for you guys that the only picture I see of that game all week is this: http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1585052.1390192702!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_635/article-richardshermanaddon1-0119.jpg

Yes I am the only one calling it like it is. Look around nobody supports this idiot. I can't call him thug cause D!ck Sherman says that is racist. It was an embarrassing event that consumed the entire post game and will dominate Super Bowl coverage. The more they show him the more non Seahawks fans cringe. There is a reason PR reps sent D!ck out to do interviews the next day and make him apologize

Plenty of people support him. But the funny thing is I don't remember your outrage at Joey Porter when he used to shoot off his mouth. Interesting.

He never acted like that in an interview. Besides did we have a thread on him. BTW was never a fan of Porter's antics

The "plenty" of people who support him...where in Seattle? His locker room? His college roommate?

The support for Sherman is a rallying around the perceived racism that the reaction to his crazy interview was.

PS Jeremy Stephens is soft

Oh so if there was a Porter thread you would have gone off on him? Wait! so on one hand no one supports Sherman but on the other there are people who support him? So which is it? Who is Jeremy Stephens?

You ain't this dumb. The people supporting him are doing so because they think he is being racially attacked not cause they think he had a great interview or liked how he went off on a lady

You don't know what I would have said about porter because he didn't make a fool out of himself like D!ck Sherman, you can make up the interview and tape it like in your basement with your mom and then post a thread of the make believe interview and I will respond to it. Ok?

You are getting more stupid with every post. you tell me I didn't get upset when Porter did it, I tell you he never did it then you play make believe and tell me what I would have said.

Priceless.

They support him for racism reasons not cause he did a great interview. You know how it goes. you were once a conservative don't pretend anyone is singing his praises And no Porter never spit all over a lady and looked like he was gonna punch her in an interview

You constantly move the goalpost. First you say porter did same thing now you state generally he just made a fool of himself. You are a fraud

Since you want to go all definition of IS ala Clinton on me lets just say vast majority of people do not support him. Nobody by definition is zero which you seem to be hung up on like a 5 year old trying to win an arguement

His jersey's are flying off the shelves. Richard Sherman is quite possibly the most popular player in the NFL right now. Because he doesn't give a cookie cutter boring ass interview. He cuts a promo like CM Punk.
