Steven Hauschka resigned. 3 years 9.15 million.

Glad he's back. I hate to pay that much. But it's market value.

I agree glad he's back. Looks like Jets and Saints are interested in Sidney Rice according to Ian Rappaport.

Restructuring Miller and resigning Hauschka are 2 very good moves they've gotten done over the weekend.

It's not gonna garner much media attention, not fantasy info. But from the team standpoint, really big moves.

Kudos!

To be quit honest with you, I think we might actually be about done here.

I think we'll still see a DL signing, and it's still possible Rice can be resigned, or Finley signed. I think either guy is a cap friendly, just be happy your here deal.

But from here on out we'll look at a Thomas extension, and maybe Sherman with an extension and a Baldwin long term deal. He'd still have to sign his tender first.

By the end of the week, it's gonna be draft talk boys.

Oh and Philly. Gonna need some TWD analysis on the main board.

You've been slacking! :nono:

It seems that part of the offseason strategy is to have a chunk of money leftover to roll over into next year. With these new cap rules, if we remain 10 million under the cap, for example, that would double going into next year and we would get a 20 million cap relief for next year in addition to whatever other space we create, which would be a lot based on expiring contracts all over the place. But that 20 million would go a long way to help in resigning Sherman, Thomas, and Okung.

I hated the prior episode mainly focusing on Maggie, Sasha, and Dr Beer, so I didn't have much to recap other than ranting, which I guess is the whole point. When I get around to watching this past Sunday's episode, I'll be back in the saddle. It's getting tough to keep up with my list of shows during the week and I need the weekends to catch up. And Game of Thrones is right around the corner.

it's described as a multi-year deal, which could mean a couple of different things.

- if it's say a 2-yr, $6m deal, that is 'prove it' money. Which would tell me that the Hawks either don't like the medical outlook, or, they look disapprovingly of players who bite other guys in the kidney.

- if it's say a 4-yr, $24m deal, with $9m guaranteed, then the only reason for the 4 yrs is to spread out the cost of the signing bonus in order to get under the cap. Mortgage the future, do what it takes to win now, and when Melton's knee goes AWOL in 18 months, yet another dead money fiasco to nail to Jerrah Jones' track record. In this case, it would just mean that the Hawks aren't willing to go longer-term on a guy with a checkered injury history. Of course, Melton's knee could be fine in which case it may turn out to be a great signing. But I think they are thinking more in terms of restructuring the key guys they need to address (Earl, Sherm, and RW in 2015) and less on free agents from elsewhere.

Basically I like how the front brass are thinking. Focus on the key needs, be willing to re-load through the draft and UDFA guys (who, let's be honest, must love the prospect of coming to Seattle for a look-see…everyone gets a fair shake). What goes unsaid is that they need to keep hitting on their draft picks and UDFA guys to keep making this work.

Melton is a Texas guy, so his dream gig was to be a Cowboy and he was going to play for them no matter what. It's a multiyear deal, backloaded. So, Dallas, already in Cap Hell, is jumping deeper into Cap Hell. Ah, fock 'em.

Finley continues to sit unsigned, not visiting teams. Leads me to believe that a deal is in place with Seattle still, pending passing all the medical stuff. Finley is trying to squeeze a few extra bucks using Peyton Manning's injury recovery as an example, but I don't think it's working. It should be a Bennett type deal. One year, prove it, just not so much money. Then next year talk about resigning.

Jared Allen was supposedly offered 1 year, 4 million by Seattle. He doesn't seem to have other firm offers. Dallas is off the list now. He wants Demarcus Ware money, but the market is shrinking. He will have to decide whether to take the Bennett type deal with Seattle and compete for a ring, or continue to hope for a better offer. Technically Bennett was 1 year, 5 million, which I would be OK with giving to Allen to make the deal.

I think we are front runners for signing both right now. We are somewhere around 16 to 17 million under the cap currently. I think we could get both and still be at 10 million under, with draft picks to add, and maybe a bargain UFA somewhere along the line.

Havn't heard the finacial part of it yet. But the Melton deal was for 1 year, with a team option for 3 more.

Being reported that the Seahawks are interested in Kenny Britt.

Don't know what kind of money it would take. He's very talented, but has a boatload of off field issues. His natural position would seem to be the same one that Golden Tate played in the offense.

If he's cheap, he's worth the risk. They'd better be darn sure they put a personal conduct clause in his contract though.

Jared Allen is visiting Seattle for a 2nd time. It's hard to imagine a scenario where he's coming back and we don't get a deal done.

He'd have to lower his price pretty signifigantly. Last I heard on the guy he wanted 10 mil a year or he would retire.

We got 7.5 million cap relief by cutting Clemons, or somewhere around there. There is zero chance they offer him that much. Otherwise, it's just a lateral move, and you added 2 million in dead cap money on top of it this year. The very most they offer is probably around 6 million, but likely less. The retirement angle is simply leverage. I don't believe him when he threatens that. 10 million was when Denver was throwing around stupid money at the start of free agency. Now, the market has grown quiet. The feeding frenzy is over. The panic for the players is starting to creep in.

Besides, don't all former Vikings star players end up in Seattle?

It's actually kid of funny you say that.

The player I say Rusell Wilson closely resembles the most (to me anyways) is Fran Tarkenton.

I always get mad when people lump the kid in with the "running quarterbacks".

To me that's not what he does. I believe he's an escape artist that runs to find an open man, ie. he runs to throw. Alot like Tarkenton. I never considered him a running QB either.

Agreed.

Now let's try to get a half way decent offensive line together so Wilson doesn't get his skull caved in one of these days.

The game was never, never, never in doubt.

This was a season of destiny, dummy. Never had a smidgen of doubt that we would win the Superbowl from day one. It just felt like it was going to happen and the feeling never left. So talk about close calls all you want. You haven't been paying attention enough.

Seattle games in the past two seasons go two ways, and two ways only. Never any deviation. They might blow a team out. And that has happened quite a few times. Or they will play you to the last possession of the game. Seattle hasn't lost a game by more than 7 points since 2011-12. They grind it out late in games. And make the plays in the end with the defense and running game, with some late game comebacks from Wilson. It's not complicated. No Seattle fan honestly thought SF was going to win that NFC championship game. Just not going to happen.

Telling others seattle won because it was destiny sounds pretty ghey

Call me John Travolta for the rest of my life. No matter. We won a Superbowl.

I'd choke a thousand baby seals. I'd punch a hundred Girl Scouts in the mouth. I'd butt chug an entire case of Sriracha. I'd watch an entire episode of Girls. Just to win a Superbowl.

I can now die a little less miserable.

Bargain shopping.

Seahawks sign OG Steve Schilling. Drafted 2011, He's played in 18 games, 2 starts, the past couple of season with San Diego. Plays on the right side.

Edit: played some OT in college too.

Dang. Arizona signed Cromartie.

At this point, depending on what they do at SS, Arizona might have the 2nd best secondary in the league. They look more of a threat than San Francisco right now.

That's cool, but to say there was never a doubt they would win the NFC championship is simply not true. There was plenty of doubt but they won, so all's well for you. Congrats.

Looks like Allen is signing too. Nice move.

I'm sure you were in the fetal position sucking your thumb until the pick and then resumed your "never a doubt" stance............. :bandana:

Well, one of the Milwaukee papers wrote up an article that Jermichael Finley is at least several months away from being recovered from his injuries in order to pass a physical and sign with a team. Seattle was laying the ground work early, but it was early indeed. Which also goes to show why they moved on restructuring Zach Miller when they did.

Kenny Britt is saying that he is looking to make a decision over the weekend, between 4 teams, with Carolina and Seattle figuring to be his strongest options. If we aren't going to sign Finley, I could see that money going in Britt's direction. Although I'd say Carolina is probably more desperate for help.

And with that Finley money suddenly more available than I figured, Jared Allen is a very real possibility to sign now. We can even offer more than I expected with no damage done to the cap situation at all and the eventual extensions to key core players.

OL Steve Schilling is guy Tom Cable wanted to draft in 2011 in the 7th round, but San Diego swiped just before could happen by taking him in the 6th. Like that WR Taylor Price we signed a few weeks ago, we are bringing in guys we liked on draft day. Hey, given our track record with later round projects, seems like a sound strategy.

Things are looking up. Seems like something or other will break this weekend.

Terrelle Pryor asked out of Oakland. They'll try to find a trade partner.

I never really cared for him too much. But I'd also have no problems trading a 7th for him.

So, the Seattle deal with Jared Allen seems to be about 2 years for a bit over 6 million per. However, the silence we hear seems to be a last ditch effort to negotiate with Oakland.

So, clearly, we shall see what motivates Allen, the pursuit of a ring, or more cash to stack upon all that cash he earned so far. Hey, if he feels like taking his family to Oakland (yeah, OAKLAND!!) is the way to go, and finish his career in last place pursuing sack records, well, we are probably dodging a bullet. If he signs with Seattle, it's gut check time and he passed the test. Really puts everything on the line here as far as character and motivations.

Sup yall?

What are your guy's no-holds barred thoughts on Brandin Cooks? I've been watching a lot of highlight packages of potential receivers and linemen, jacking myself up (up!) for the draft. I think I'm in love with the guy. I know he would be another midget, but pairing him with Harvin would be just a crazy amount of athleticism on the field.

So Oakland for the money or Seattle and a chance to win a ring? Really? Meh, let him go to Oakland. I read that he is on record saying he would never be a hired gun, playing a reduced role as a 3rd down specialist just to win a ring. So be it. Enjoy Oakland and your 600 snaps.

I say f0ck Jared Allen.

We're the defending Superbowl champions. We're one of the youngest teams in the league. Even if we don't win another one, we're gonna still be a force for years to come. We have one of the best owners in not only football, but all of professional sports. A very good GM. A head coach that just got voted #1 as the head coach people would want to play for. A state of the art stadium with one of (if not the) best home field advantages and fans in the game. And an off season practice facility thats top notch.

I'm not begging anyone to come play here. There's nothing to think about. You either want to or you don't.

Jared Allen can lick my ballz. I'd pull the offer off the table right now.

I DON"T WANT HIM!
