Cruzer 1,995 Posted April 9, 2014 Dustin Johnson choking in one major doesn't/shouldn't label him a CHOKER. If he did it 8 other times in majors like Westwood and Sergio then we can talk. DJ is a titan in the world of major championship golf underachievement. He's also a known choke artist. We are talking now - HTH.

Cruzer 1,995 Posted April 9, 2014 DJ has choked far more than once in a major Don't confuse KSB with facts. He's prolly Googling now to see what you're talking about.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted April 9, 2014 DJ has choked far more than once in a major edjr you consider a "choke" as anyone that has a bad shot with the lead in a golf tournament, we've been through this before. You pretty think every golf tournmanent has chokes. If a golfer is in the top 10 on Saturday and loses you will say they choked. A verly liberal (not poltical liberal but the actual term liberal) perspective on what is and what is not a choke. But thats not the question. Who would you consider a bigger choke artist in their career? Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, or Dustin Johnson? The mere length of career lends itself to one of the others is my point. But we can argue all day over nonsense. Just be prepared to be dissapointed when Lee Westwood is leading after Friday and ends up finishing 21st. I've bet on him for years and have been there. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me 15 times? Shame on Westwood.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted April 9, 2014 Don't confuse KSB with facts. He's prolly Googling now to see what you're talking about. I never inferred DJ hasn't had his shortcomings in tournamnets. In fact in my very first post where you mentioned it, I said: Touche' Do you know what that means? It means I was saying....good one, great point. However we are comparing Westwood and Sergio to DJ. And two of those are older, have been choking longer than the other. Which is my point. HTH

Not knowing the rules at the Pga and grounding his club, that's just inexcusable and having the lead going into the final round of the US open and shooting 82? KSB2424 3,148 Posted April 9, 2014 Because he hasn't choked as often or as bad as Westwood and Garcia, doesn't make him any less of a choker. Sure it does. Most every golfer, in that sport is going to "choke". Its the nature of the sport. Arnold Palmer choked, Tigers choked, Rory's choked all of them have choked, its part of golf. You are swinging a small faced club, on a small ball, in a pressure situation. All golfers will choke at some point and normally multiple times. When you are fairly young its sort of expected. When you are 40 and still doing it, without ever breaking through, you can officially be labeled a Choker. 5 or 6 years from now if DJ still hasn't won a major, and has had several more chances that he gave away on Sunday then he will be in the same boat as Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia. But that is five years away. Not sure what else to say.

Fumbleweed 543 Posted April 10, 2014 Have you ever seen Snedeker interviewed about the Masters? It is his singular focus in golf. But, I agree that winning a major at this point in their careers would mean everything to Westwood and/or Garcia.

But, I agree that winning a major at this point in their careers would mean everything to Westwood and/or Garcia. Yes I have. And as focused and passionate as Sneds is about the Masters - multiply that times 100 and you might sniff what this would mean to Kooch. Walking these grounds as a kid, attending GT in Bobby Jones' footsteps, playing as an amateur in '98 to the roars of "Kooch, Kooch, Kooch". It's not even close........ And then there are the likes of you and countless others beating Westwood & Garcia's balls into the dirt about being chokers and major failures - not just this week, but for years. Sneds may want it - but he's way in the back of the line as far as how bad.
