Getting oil stains outta driveway?

Recommended Posts

Cheap cat litter (not the expensdive clumping kind). Cover spots generously. Allow to sit for several hours. Wearing your chore shoes, stomp around on the litter to grind down even further. Sweep up.

Some people then scrub the area to even out the coloration of the cement, or just hose off. Works really well.

I buy cars that don't leak oil.

Holy crap. I almost thought you contributed to a thread that wasn't political.

Then I saw you were just being an ass hole.

I was going to type the same thing. Cat litter works about the best as anything. Then I'd use a dishwasher detergent like a Dawn (or something like oxyclean), and scrub it off with that soap and water.

Thats about all you can do, it wont get it all up but it gets it up enough where after a few months of weather it pretty much blends in and goes away to where you barely notice it if at all.

My brother in law drives some big hunk of junk and seems to always leave his mess all over my driveway whenever he comes over.

Our company makes a low toxicity blend of detergents that will pull oil off anything. To bad we don't sell it for public use.

Muriatic acid works great, but you have to be careful you don't discolor the concrete.

home depot, get that sweeping powder/gravel stuff... (cat litter is a similar type of deal). It absorbs it and you sweep it back up...

We use the cat litter under my wife's Suburban which leaks a little. Change it once a month or two.

Simple Green picks up the oil well.

Cover them with blood stains? :dunno:

I think its the other way around. Ya cover the blood stains with oil. kinda like beer before liquor makes ya sicker. Oil before blood keeps you from getting fried.

Cat litter, then dishwashing liquid, scrub, powerwasher.

ETA: remove the cat litter, before adding the dishwashing liquid
