$epphori$ 118 Posted September 7, 2014 Church? What is that? It is where naive people go to give money to show their dedication to a God that depends on $$$ to exist.

Phil Simms 11 127 Posted September 7, 2014 I will be at the Pagoda for the Pchum Ben festival but that won't interfere with me watching football. Unfortunately I am on the other side of the world so the damned games that you guys watch at 1pm and 4pm are at midnight and 3am for me. Download games and don't look at sports sites

It would be nice if there wasnt so much hypocrisy surrounding certain faiths. Its his right to have his opinion as much as it is for those who go to church regularly.

You do not need to go to church to accomplish that. I was raised in the church and was a born again christian for 15 years till I started to think for myself. What I realized was there were way more lies spewed from within organized religion. It was a huge turnoff. I prefer to think my life has more meaning than serving some God others claim i should worship. If God is in desperate need of my love or me worshiping him/her then he is not so great after all IMO So, I do believe in God, but my God does not punish nor judge, My God also has a sense of humor. Sorry if I hurt your feelings Forgive me?
Phil Simms 11 127 Posted September 7, 2014 Sunday mornings are for hangovers I thought. Just go to confession preemptively and tell the priest you aren't going to church again until the season is over. He will give you a few prayers to say and you can rest easy on Sundays knowing you are already forgiven.

Phil Simms 11 127 Posted September 7, 2014 It is nice to see more of us Agnostics and Atheists in the world. Maybe there is some magic man living in the sky but no logical reason to think one religion is correct and others are wrong. I do this Buddhist thing for the in-laws but my misses doesn't believe in it either. The pagodas and wats are epic sights to see and I enjoy going to hang with some monks. The other religions need to step up and make the services more enjoyable. Just too damned boring and they aren't getting any of my money unless they can provide some kind of entertainment.

If God is in desperate need of my love or me worshiping him/her then he is not so great after all IMO So, I do believe in God, but my God does not punish nor judge, My God also has a sense of humor. Sorry if I hurt your feelings Forgive me? I'll be in church for part of Sunday and watching football part of Sunday. I'll spend part of Sunday nights working with kids in the community at a church playing sports games, teaching some bible verses and trying to impart some real world life skills using experiences I've had in my life, a number of them sports related. Sometimes I'll make it home in time to see the 2nd half of the Sunday night game. Many of these kids will be kids who have never otherwise been in a church, the parents, more likely the single parent, is dropping them off to take a break for a couple of hours. I'm not surprised that you would have a bad experience with a religious organization there are misguided people in all walks of life. Religious leaders, teachers, counselors, politicians, parents, everywhere. I don't take offense at anything you have said but I am concerned that people who read your comments would be mislead. God does not need our love or worship................. He is God. However people in this world, our neighbors, community members, friends and relatives, can use the love of God as shown through us. By the way when Atheists want to show love and help others, and many do, I'll stand right along side them work together, and high five them when we're done. I'll join their FF league and do my best to make sure I beat them every time! You are correct that you don't need to go to church in order to accomplish any of this, but if someone is fortunate enough to find the right group of people with a common goal to love and help others you will find that you can be a part of something that does amazing things. God does not need our money, he is doing OK from my understanding. People in my community could use monetary and other help many churches provide. People around the world can for that matter. Jesus Christ in the bible was far more critical of the religious hierarchy of the times than he was of general humanity and I'm sure the same is true right now. Sorry you had a bad experience with the people you knew. The dude preferred to hang with the kids and sinners. God was and is about love

Sorry you had a bad experience with the people you knew. The dude preferred to hang with the kids and sinners. God was and is about love This I am glad I had my church experience at a young age. It taught me to question and research everything. I have read the bible a few times, and even have read interpreted Sumerian tablet and cylinder seals. Which some are pre-writings of the Old testament. I find it fascinating how certain things in history have been left out of some religions because it discredits what they teach. You seem a very kind and warm hearted person, and I respect what you do for people in your community. It is to bad there were not more men like you Good Luck this weekend
