Realistic SB Contenders

Recommended Posts

Despite their poor play as of late, I'd still give Green Bay a shot. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Panthers lose in their 1st game next week. I could be wrong.

You will be wrong , because the Packers will lose to the Redskins this week .

Deadskins are definitely playing better football right now.

My pick of the Redskins over the Packers has more to do with how bad the Packers have looked lately and I think the Redskins matchup to the problems the Packers have been enduring .

Bad as the Pack has been, it doesn't change the fact that if the Redskins had played in the NFC North they probably would have finished last.

Maybe , doesn't effect my pick because they don't play in the NFC north so that really doesn't come into play .

I see the NFC championship CAR vs. ARI with CAR pulling off a close, high scoring game. GB gets beaten by WAS this weekend.

AFC is tougher. Wouldn't surprise me to see KC go far, only to lose to NE.

I predict CAR/NE Superbowl with NE going home, well, deflated.

I see what you did there.

NFC Seattle did a number on Cards this past week. It always seems like the hot teams going into the playoffs go far. If Lynch can come back and play well Seattle takes the NFC. Pack look bad, no offensive line WRs seem to have trouble getting open with tight coverage. Washington is well Washington. Minny stop AP and you win. I just don't see the personnel in Carolina as scarey except for Superman's ability to fly (sweep the leg, no mercy). AFC I agree as someone said a much more difficult task to predict. I just can't see Alex Smith leading a team to the promised land. I mean Dilfer's Ravens defense is still much better than present day KC defense. Steeler's defense very shaky and an injured running game doesn't help the offense. Pats well again no offensive line and Brady with a high ankle sprain? Denvers defense is what has carried them far but noodle armed, broken foot, neck hanging Manning seems to me will struggle (might be better to leave the taller QB tossing the pigskin). Cincy has questions at QB and if the red head does return, will he be rusty red and again crumble in the lime light. AFC goes through Denver so cold snow wind favors defense?? Oops forgot Houston. Houston we have a problem we are forgettable.

The Vikings where smart to get rid of that dome and go back to the great outdoors , should be interesting game to watch with it being so cold . Would like to see the Vikings win this game , I don't think they will but I would like to see them win this game .

Didn't the Seahawks get their asses handed to them at home by the Rams the weekend before last? What is so hot about beating a team that really had nothing to gain the last week of the season? Seahags will lose next week to Carolina bad.

The Rams have beaten Seattle 3 of the last 4 games. A loss last season to the Rams sure didn't stop the Seahawks from making it to the SB :dunno:

Pretty sure they are in the process of building a new domed stadium.

Patriots (must get healthy in these two weeks and can't have anymore guys go down)

Steelers

Cards

Panthers

Seahawks

I don't think any of the other 7 teams have a real shot.

So what magically changed for Seattle? Russell Wilson started playing out of his mind? Meh, I think they dominate the Vikings, but will go on and get beat by the Panthers by at least a TD.

For this weekend I have the Chiefs, Steelers, Seahawks, and Redskins winning.

There are no dominant teams this year in the AFC this year, it's weird. You can make a case for the Cardinals and Panthers in the NFC. I don't like the Chiefs offense, especially with Mr. Play It Safe Alex Smith, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them in the AFCCG. But if my predictions hold up, it'll be Steelers vs. Patriots in the AFCCG. Steelers win if DeAngelo Williams is good to go by next week. They'll be too one dimensional without him against the Broncos.

Yep, they've been playing in the U of Minnesota stadium.

I thought they where playing there until they built themselves a new out door stadium . I would stay out doors they made the playoffs .

Pretty sure it will have a dome, but it may be retractable.

The Vikings don't get to dictate that when they're siphoning taxpayer money to fund this project.

A huge part of the decision came from the potential revenue for the usage of the stadium with other events, including hosting a Super Bowl and other events such as the NCAA tournament. The NFL would never approve a Super Bowl in Minnesota in the elements at the beginning of February.

The days of stadiums used for only one purpose (in this case football), particularly those funded by taxpayers, is over and done.

Now...if Wilf wanted to pay for the stadium himself, then he could've done whatever he wanted.

I think the SB will be CAR and NE .. and NE winning, because of better skill players, QB and coaching. ('m not thrilled with my prediction...)

Your taking the top two teams from each conference , so how can you not feel comfortable with those picks . I'm picking Chiefs vs Cardinals.

I didn't know the Patriots leap-frogged the Broncos for the #1 seed.

Aside from that, there's also plenty of reasons to not go chalk in picking potential Super Bowl winners based off recent history.

The last No. 1 seed to win the Super Bowl was the 2009 Saints (NFC).

The last No. 1 seed in the AFC to win the Super Bowl was the 2003 Patriots.

No. 1 seeds have won just two of the last 13 Super Bowls. In the 10 seasons prior to that streak, the No. 1 seeds won the Super Bowl seven times.

Hawks vs NE rematch is what I'm thinking.

And a little payback in order!

weepaws: I mean that I don't necessarily want Brady to have a fifth ring for his thumb. (Montana only has four; same with Bradshaw.)

On a neutral playing field, the Cardinals are the best TEAM in these playoffs and I don't think its close TBH

I would agree, but I think losing the Honey Badger hurts, especially against Newton
