BLS 314 Posted February 4, 2016 http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/14703416/outside-lines-nfl-great-ken-stabler-diagnosed-cte-death Still mildly surprised that the NFL did not arrange an accidental death for that doctor that outed their secret. What can this mean for the future of the game? This issue continues to arise. Now that it is "known" can anyone legitimately sue them if they are diagnosed after knowing this could happen to them? You get paid an ass-ton of money, are famous, and get to bang any chic you want for years. The downside is when you get old life will suck. My GiveOFuck meter is at zero. My GiveOFuck meter is at zero. I agree with your assertion in principle. My review was more pointedly at the level to which the NFL is willing to go to <ahem> "protect its brand" and that it would, not unlike big oil, banks, insurance companies etc...., kill off anyone who could significantly hurt them. Further, how does this evolve from a legal stance? Just wondering aloud I guess.
GobbleDog 1,010 Posted February 4, 2016 I think I have an idea but, the haters aren't going to like the fact that subconsciously, they might simply be racist. All the "racists" who hate Cam don't seem to hate Russel Wlison, Michael Jordan or other great black athletes.?. That's because those players have CLASS which is all anyone really cares about. For some reason the media and brilliant people like you can't understand that so instead it must be "racist." I don't care what color or which position they play, if I were commish there would be no dancing. Spike the ball, high five team mates, fist pump... no problem. But I'd suspend any player who danced. It's unsportsmanlike and looks ridiculous. I actually want Cam to keep on dancing. It makes him look like the jackass he truly is.

Mike Honcho 5,405 Posted February 4, 2016 I don't have an issue with Cam at all, the guy is having fun, makes the game seem like more fun to watch, seems overblown to me. Seems to be a more generational issue to me, though some people seem to want to make it about race. He grew up watching Deion Sanders high step into the end zone, guys like that...most of us grew up watching Payton or Sanders score a touchdown and just hand it to the ref with the "act like you've been there before" routine. But I agree, it's way overblown, Cam does look like he's having fun and he's giving it all, all the time. And unlike Deion, you never question if Cam is making a business decision on any plays. He's good for the league.
patweisers44 864 Posted February 4, 2016 You must not have lived thru the Jordan years, there were plenty of haters. I still hope Jordan lands on someone's foot when he goes up for a layup in his morning game at the YMCA. For years he was a whiny ****y that realized he had to find in within himself and his teammates to win championships, instead of whining for calls.

Further, how does this evolve from a legal stance? Just wondering aloud I guess. The NFL is just like everything and everyone throughout the history of this planet. They try to protect everything they have. The more they have, the greater the lengths they'll go to in order to protect it. Everybody gets something out of the deal. It's voluntary on every participants part. Fans choose to watch, NFL chooses to be greedy, players choose to enter an agreement with the greedy NFL for the pleasure of the fans. (not directed towards you) Still don't care. That's why I don't care about steroids or HGH in sports either. Who cares? Ruins the integrity of the game, yes, but only from a historically statistics point, not from a competition aspect.
BLS 314 Posted February 4, 2016 I don't have an issue with Cam at all, the guy is having fun, makes the game seem like more fun to watch, seems overblown to me. He's a showboat to me. Not unlike 90% of the other players in the league. I choose to not like him because losing by 20 he'll pull his superman stunt on a 1st down because it's about him, not the team. Has nothing to do with the fact that he's black that I don't care for him. But either way that makes me racist, so I guess I'm racist. Oh, and I do admire his talent. Boy can play football, for sure. wiffleball 4,797 Posted February 4, 2016 Really, getting back to the issue, the key flaw in all this CTE business can be summed up in two words: Selection Bias. You come up with a theory and you don't quit looking until you find something to prove that theory. And like I said before, that's not good science. The only people who are getting their dead brains assiduously studied for CTE are athletes who showed outward symptoms of CTE. To my knowledge, nobody's doing the same testing on suicidal Dentists or Accountants. In a simplistic sense, it's like saying every paralyzed veteran at some point or another wore a whole lot of camouflage. Therefore, camouflage causes paralysis. It's just bad science. I'm not saying that ultimately the theories won't be ultimately proven, but there are a shiit-ton of variables to be ruled out and syllogisms to be eliminated.
