Tough call here.

On one hand you had the 1st team ever finish 16 and 0 (but not the 1st team to finish undefeated in a regular season)

On the other you have the 1st team ever to win 73 games in a season.

The issue is what's "easier" to do once you make it to the playoffs. The NFL you only have to win 3 games but all 3 are gonna be against stiff competition. In the NBA you gotta win 4 series but the first 2 anyway you're gonna have the significant advantage in talent. I think it's worse in the NFL.

16-0, especially when you factor in the cheating.

Losing the NBA finals compared to losing a SB. Is this a real question?

I wouldn't expect a Washington fan to really know what winning in the past 25 years was like.

3rd vote for 16-0. Good comparison, in that in our lifetime, these are the top two.

It's a tough one but I went with 16-0. Either way though, still amazing seasons.

Golden State had a chance to be the greatest team ever. Not only did they not accomplish that, this loss makes their win last year less meaningful. Cleveland was missing Love and Irving.

Golden state was just lucky.

Irving really stepped up this year... huge.

The patriots filailure to win the SB was much worse. You're talking perfection.

No NBA team will ever acieve perfection in the regular season let alone including the playoffs.

It's a letdown for the warriors, absolutely. And their 73 wins won't be forgotten but won't be remembered as fondly either but being 1 game from perfection and bowing it stings more in my book

He reminded me of Isiah Thomas (the real one)

Wait, who am I fooling, I didn't watch 1 second of the NBA this year. I did hear that on the radio though

Perfection has happened in the NFL before, no team has ever won 73 and a title.

But no team ever went 16-0 in the nfl regular season nor 18-0 prior to the SB

Get ready beyotch. Skins go 12-4 this year.

And how about the 2001 Mariners who won 116 and got run in the ALCS.

It's the 16-0 Patriots without a doubt. Keep in mind the fact that not only did they go 16-0, they destroyed teams and the record book that year. Then factor in the NY-Boston dynamic, and that if the Patriots had won they become the greatest team of all time across all sports, displacing the 27 and 61 Yankees, by beating a NY team. Brady is the unquestioned GOAT at this point if they win that, they are that much closer to knocking the Steelerss off the throne. There was much more at stake in SB 42, and the ramifications are still felt. And let's not forget the cockiness and arrogance that was on display by the pats and their fans before that game.

Do you think if the Warriors and Patriots had won we would even entertain this discussion? I woukd never have put the Warriors in the same class as an undefeated SB team.

Interesting way to look at it.

it's an interesting topic, the day after the team with the most wins ever didn't win the NBA championship.

Jax will at minimum have the same record as Wash, more than likely better

No team with regular season wins record in any sport has ever capped off the season with a title. 2015-16 Warriors, 2007 Patriots, 2001 Mariners, or 1995-96 Red Wings. All losers in the end.

98 yankees?

Wouldn't characterize any of those teams as losers. Great teams. They just didn't win their respective postseasons. Very disappointing given the regular season success, but no shame in that.

How about having the winner of the US open and only 2 guys that make the cut?

Losers 'in the end'. Couldn't seal the deal.

I think being up 3 games to 2, Game 6 of the WS, bottom of the 9th, leading 7 to 5, full count, 2 outs........ and then Cruz focks it up... You then score 2 in the top of the 10th - only to fock it up again, lose in the 11th - then go on to lose Game 7.

Still never having won a WS - that's my personal worst. :wall:

It was before. So had I posted this bit of trivia in 1999 or 2000, I'd be incorrect. In 2016, I am correct.

cubs won 116 in 1906
