Jordy Nelson

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think about him?

Coming off a bad injury, ain't getting any younger.

But Rodgers loves him and that Green Bay offense just didn't work well without him.

Does he return to his 2014 form (or at least 2013)? Was a monster then. I'm thinking he's a good value target

He won't be cheap. Last I looked his ADP was 2-2 with a low of end of row 2. So he's not cheap and I argue quite expensive.

I'd rather draft Cobb or Lacy, both of whom will be discounted because of last season, yet get the effect of Jordy in the lineup.

Huh, for some reason I thought he was going a bit later than that. Never mind then

In most of the mocks I've seen he goes at the end of the first round. In this range I'd rather take a chance on Dez.

Number three wr on my board , so in a ppr league worthy of a first round pick .

The Vikings and Bears are both better on defense. His injury may have lasting effects that we aren't aware of yet. I can't recall a WR who had a bad injury and was 100% the following season. I like Jordy, but he's not on my list of guys to take in Round One. The last draft I was in, he went at the 1.10. That's just too rich for my blood. In that scenario, you are losing if he doesn't produce like a top 3/4 WR. As someone above said, Cobb has slipped a bit and he presents a better value this season. Jordy may have better numbers, but taking him in the late 1st gives you no room for error. You can get Cobb later and his numbers in PPR may be incredibly similar.

I have him as a low end WR1. He has top 5 potential but I expect that to be tapered down a little coming off the ACL injury. Many players struggle a bit the 1st season back, but not all. If he plays all 16 or close I still see him being a solid starter each week at worst and a strong WR1 at best.

As far as draft slot I'm suspect that he would have been 'ready for the superbowl' but starts on PUP. I think he's good this year, maybe WR 8-14 at the top end. But I'd peg his floor around 18-22. In the late first or early second I'm not taking him.

Call it a gut feeling...but I'm not touching Jordy this year.

It's not even the fact he's coming off the injury...nowadays ACL's aren't even that big a deal and guys usually come back with a stronger knee. I'm more worried about the fact he's 31 years old.

Could he have one or two good seasons left? Sure.

Am I willing to use a later first or early 2nd round pick to find out when that ADP range has other solid options? Hell no.

Not me , if he is healthy I have him set as my third wr . Makes him a first rounder .

Someone give me some names of WRs who came back to be a WR1 after an ACL tear.

Maclin (was 25)

Welker (was 29)

Anyone else?

I would not put younger guys on the same list as guys 30+

That is the cutoff for me. But thats just my opinion man

Not a bad opinion, but Nelson doesn't have the typical wear on his legs like a 31 year old. Welker had more catches at a younger age, 1/2 the rehab period of Nelson, and still was a #1. Still, that is one example and only one.

Maclin actually came back from a couple knee operations. He was young though. Welker has always been just a slot guy, so he doesn't compare well with Nelson. Nelson has never been "fast", but more of the sneaky deep guy who runs great routes and doesn't give up on a play. That said, no way is he a 1st rounder in 2016 in my book. Way too many other guys available without the risk he comes with.

Rodgers just had his "worst season as a starter." 3800 31 8 92.7. LOL thats a pro bowl season right there and for Rodgers it was considered a letdown. Call that his rock ottom floor and add Jordy to the mix. He is a great wr1 choice.

Nelson had a "hiccup" with his other knee and doesn't know when he'll practice.

https://twitter.com/RobDemovsky/status/757990291257249793

1st round WR...

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Jordy Nelson is on the active/PUP list with a "hiccup" in his non-ACL knee, but that he should be ready for Week 1.

"It's not the ACL," Nelson assured. "No one needs to freak out." Be that as it may, Nelson is without a return date for practice. Nelson should be ready for the opener, but this puts the injury risk for a 31-year-old player coming off a torn ACL in stark relief. It's possible Nelson is held out for the entire preseason. Nelson is currently the WR7 by ADP, ahead of the likes of Allen Robinson and Alshon Jeffery. That was ambitious even before Nelson's latest injury news.

I concur. I think all the upside and none of the risk is being built into his ADP.

There's a likely chance where he will have a total of two-three series of preseason action (a year ago) as the only NFL action he'll have in a total of 18 months. Being in shape and in game-shape are two entirely different things.

For a 31 year old WR who has consistently been a deep threat, good luck with the conditioning aspect early in the season. And if you're selling after a potentially disappointing start, I'll buy. For a fraction of the cost you invested in during the draft.

Isn't fantasy football all about upside and not based on risk .

Everyone is a risk injury a bad season suspension .

If you think about it more thought should be put into the risk factor but than I would be hitting for singles when I like to go for the home run .

Yeah his ADP would have to drop a lot before I'm interested. I honestly just assumed he was going around round 3 or even 4 what with the knee injury plus age. Round one? Forget it. He has to live up to everything you could hope for otherwise it's a bad pick.

Julio, AJG, Nuk, A-Rob all offer the exact same upside as Jordy Nelson. None of them are coming off a year and a half of no NFL action.

How exactly is Julio Jones hitting for singles?

That's where I have had him ranked in the first round .

I have him ranked third on my wr list .

Since he's your #3 ranked WR as you've clearly said over and over...

I'll take a shot in the dark that Antonio Brown is your #1.

I'd then speculate that Odell Beckham is #2.

So...by process of elimination, if you put more thought into risk factor, you'd be taking a guy like Julio. Or Nuk. Or AJG. Or A-Rob. But, then you'd be hitting for singles.

So when did I say that J Jones his like hitting a single ? So what you are saying is that you assume how I look at things .

But we've never answered my question that was ask to you , when did I say Jones is hitting a single ?

Your post he quoted reads like 'everyone is a risk and Jordy is still #3 on my board, taking someone else is hitting singles' little paws. Personally I believe Jordy will be fine by game 1, and GB is going to play it safe with him. Still too much risk at his current ADP for me tho.

Will right now I don't feel like he is a risk and worth the ranking I've ranked him at .

A month from now if Nelson is still having a problem and it's getting closer to my draft than I will change his ranking if need be .
