Mookz 1,341 Posted August 7, 2017 Nothing like making a few grand while you sleep. BTC at an all time high! ETH up, LTC up, BTC up + almost every altcoin is up. ---- Where is Alias today? All told, I'm back to about even with cryptos. I'd be up if I were at all competent at churning it. I believe the Monkey ICO begins tomorrow at 8 AM, has anything changed there, or are you still as high on it as before?

Don't throw everything at it but definitely make it a percentage of your portfolio.
Mookz 1,341 Posted August 9, 2017 It's been close before, but this morning is the first time I've personally seen ETH trading at a higher volume than BTC. Although they're both falling, so maybe not in a good way. 90s, did you get in on Monkeycoin? I have such a hard time with that Waves app. Yesterday after work I had an order in to sell a couple ETH and buy MNY, but it just sat there. I didn't see any activity happening at all, in fact, just some other orders sitting there.

Do you use the web based wallet or the Google Chrome extension? I recommend using the Google Chrome extension, I don't think you will have that problem anymore. I recommend using the Google Chrome extension, I don't think you will have that problem anymore. Yup, yesterday it topped out at about $312, which was nice because my average buy point was $311.66 (I can't believe I actually bought some for over $400 at one point). Unfortunately I do use the Chrome extension, apparently I'm just a retread. I will try again. So, it's not sold out or anything, correct? I think the limit is only a billion tokens, and the price was set so low that I would have been getting 1.8 million MNY for my Ethereum. Does that sound even remotely correct? How long did you wait before you canceled the order? Let it sit for a few hours, a lot of people are buying MC right now. Yes that sounds correct. You are just use to comparing the value of things to the USD so it sounds like more than it is to you.

If a billion is a thousand million, and I would have been getting close to 2 million for just a few ETH, it just seems like it would be sold out in an instant. But if there is still some to be had, I will try again. I let my order sit there for maybe an hour or so. I just wasn't seeing any movement so I thought something was wrong. Plus ETH was skyrocketing at the time, so it was becoming worse and worse of a deal the longer I waited.

One more thing make sure you have some Wave Tokens in our wallet before you process this or it won't go threw because there is a 0.003 transaction fee. Waves MAKES you use Waves to pay their transactions fee and no other crypto.

Waves MAKES you use Waves to pay their transactions fee and no other crypto. Yep I ran into that problem back when I was preparing for this whole thing. And it's a catch-22, you need Waves to even be able to buy Waves. Apparently what you have to do (and I did this) is send a message to the Waves staff and they will credit your account with some Waves "dust" to get you going. I saw that after doing a Google search, I'm not sure how you're supposed to know. That whole exchange is so primitive compared to Poloniex.

Buy Waves on Bittrex and transfer them into the Waves platform. That is what I did. I have Bittrex to do that and because I wanted to invest in Antshares (which paid off). iam90sbaby 2,577 Posted August 9, 2017 Oh, okay. I guess what I did at least saved me from having to open another account. You are probably going to want to open up a Bittrex account because this is going to be very common in the future (also it is good to not keep everything on one exchange) both Bittrex and Poloniex are based in the US. Bittrex is known for getting CC's on their exchange more quickly than others while Poloniex is known for being extremely secure. Coinbase, Poloniex, Bittrex, Tether (USDT) it is a crypto that is based on the USD. Sending you a PM now.
Mookz 1,341 Posted August 11, 2017 Don't forget dudes, this is also still a stock thread. Anybody else get absolutely destroyed this week? Was it the whole Trump/NK thing? I'm actually losing on AMD now. WW, I know you got in much lower than I did. Did you sell? Are you buying more now? My Carvana gain is now about a third of what it once was. 90sbaby spoke of a shelf, that seems to be happening. 90s did you already take some profits, and do you think this is just temporary? Tesla has actually come back up to around where I bought it. When it bottomed out, all I was reading about was how Elon Musk is some sort of charlatan. Now people seem to be optimistic again with the release of the Model 3 and him talking about autonomous trucks. But I think I'm going to dump it as soon as it goes higher than what I paid, the whole stock price seems to be based only on good vibes. I think I need to be more willing to sell stuff when it's gone up nicely for me. Anybody else with updates/tips?
mmmmm...beer 803 Posted August 11, 2017 I put all my retirement funds into bonds on August 2nd after killing it with a nice .84% return on August 1st with our International fund (VEA is the Vanguard EFT equivelent) So I was in bonds the last 3 days when the S&P500(-1.45%) and Small Caps (-2.40% ish) got smashed. So instead of losing about $6k I picked up probably a few hundred. Hoping the market keeps correcting until the 24th... when I'm all in Small Caps for about a month. With the strategy I'm using I'm at about 1.03% for the month and just hitting a cumulative growth rate of 11% on the year. My goal is at least an average of 1% a month 12% growth per calendar year. I should smash that hopefully.

IGotWorms 4,057 Posted August 13, 2017 Bitcoin passed 4K last night! I may be quitting my job to do this full time. I had a friend that did that about 10 years ago. Lost all his money, gained 100 lbs and his fiancée left him. But then he went to rehab and he's doing pretty well now. Still fat though

iam90sbaby 2,577 Posted August 14, 2017 I sincerely hope it works out. Well it sure didn't sound like it at first. I also never said I was doing it, just considering it. I have to weigh options, I would never just jump into anything like that without a well laid out plan.

And Blind squirrels find nuts once in a while too..... Well I have been steadily trading cryptos for a few years now and have been in the positive each year (that isn't just B&H either). And that is putting in around 15-20 hours a week. So I am curious what I can do putting in 60-80 hours a week.

Assuming you start with $100,000. You will need to keep that 100k invested so the profits must be a minimum of 75% per year to quit your day job. Is that feasible? Year over year? I do know my bot that I have running on ETH/BTC got a buy signal around 1:30am and I am assuming the bot I am using isn't the only one that was triggered. Also did you hear there is probably going to be a split of Ethereum soon?

That turned out to be quite a windfall for people who held onto their BTC.
