titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted January 26, 2018 So I've been compiling a list for the last couple hours. No longer concerned about going deep. Christ, this decade just goes on forever. Even the 80's can't come close to hanging. Growing up in the 70's must have been the sh!t from a music standpoint. I know we have a 90's draft coming... I think a 60's is gonna have to happen at some point too. We are nearing the end of the 6th round, and the low hanging fruit still hanging around is ridiculous.

The Elevator Killer 523 Posted January 26, 2018 Am I the only one who used to watch the Jim Stanford show? Yes. He had his own show on a major network. No I watched it to. That and The Mac Davis show and Sonny and Cher. I saw Sonny and Cher live around 72. It was my 3rd concert. I was like 12. My second concert is too shameful to admit. I'll just say that after seeing Elvis, I wanted to experience what the teen hysteria of an Elvis concert in the 50s would have been like. 10 thousand 13 year old girls screaming at the top of their lungs for an hour. I didn't need to experience that again. Oh fock it. It was David Cassidy. Let the abuse begin. I'm about to go to bed anyway. Sux do you want me to send you Big Guys picks? Since I know what your next pick is, you can't cheat. LOL

Even the 80's can't come close to hanging. Growing up in the 70's must have been the sh!t from a music standpoint. It was the sh!t,our local rock station had a segment called The Midnight Album Hour and would play an album in its entirety every night then once a week or so would preview the release of a brand new album.Imagine tokin' off a big doobie with a friend and hearing the jock say,"ok the one we've all been waiting for,the newest release by Queen,News Of The World," and it would play start to finish with only one break when it was time to go to side two. That same station also did a friday afternoon gig called Get The Led Out and would play three random Zep songs back to back.

My dad still has a bunch of old reel to reel tapes where he recorded entire albums off the radio back in the late 60s and early 70s. When I got into older music, dad encouraged me to buy a turntable, which I did, so I could play all his old stuff. But it was hard to get a turntable to work well with the modern amp I had. And my roommate at the time, who worked at CD warehouse, and was literally like a character from high fidelity, had it all on CD anyway, so I went the iPod cheater route. Looking back now, it was focking incredible. FM radio, albums, 8 tracks, cassettes. Music was such a big part of our life experience. Especially albums. Owning an album was a big thing, especially for a kid. The cover art, the liner notes, trying to figure out lyrics, calling in requests to radio stations. It was an entirely different world pre video games, cable tv and the internet.

The Elevator Killer 523 Posted January 26, 2018 m All my albums were just left at home when I moved out of state and eventually tossed. Ouch. Vinyl is worth some bucks today. Mine wouldn't have been worth anything. I played the hell out of them.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted January 26, 2018 I had a fire in 1986,I lost over 750 albums, one was a bootleg Zeppelin concert recorded in Cleveland called Destroyer, four album set. My dad at one time owned close to 2,000 albums on vinyl. His third wife destroyed several hundred with a hammer once in a fit of rage. Same wife that once knocked him unconscious and beat the crap out of him, cut up his briefcase with a box cutter, and sprayed baby oil all over the interior of his car. Definitely my least favorite step mother. He probably has 1,500+ albums on vinyl now, another 2.000 on CD, and god knows how many cassette tapes out in the garage. He copied all the cds onto a hard drive. When I last spoke to him, he was in the process of digitizing the vinyl and putting it on there too. That was over ten years ago, so he might be finished by now.
