31.1 - J. Edgar Hoover - Government Administrator

John Edgar Hoover (January 1, 1895 – May 2, 1972) was an American law enforcement administrator and the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States. He was appointed as the director of the Bureau of Investigation – the FBI's predecessor – in 1924 and was instrumental in founding the FBI in 1935, where he remained director until his death in 1972 at the age of 77. Hoover has been credited with building the FBI into a larger crime-fighting agency than it was at its inception and with instituting a number of modernizations to police technology, such as a centralized fingerprint file and forensic laboratories.

31.2 John A Logan - General

On May 5, 1868, General John A. Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War veterans, called for a nationwide day of remembrance later that month. “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed.

What is your interpretation of what I'd meant by Wildcard x2?

(I'd meant for that category to go six deep rather than the usual three.)

That was how I interpreted it from reading your thread. Meanwhile, this actor is still somehow on the board...

Let me highlight my last two picks here.

James Watson is a bit of a rascal and a lot of fun. He's the most politically incorrect person still maintaining a pulse in 2018. He's 90 now and still going strong. He doesn't self censor his thoughts and is too old and famous to give a sh*t.

Watson is most famous for being (together with his British grad student Francis Crick) one of the co-discoverers of the DNA helix and the first to describe in detail the mechanism by which DNA transfers genes and traits from parents to children. The discovery threw open the whole field of genetic research. He would go on to being one of the leading cancer researchers and got involved in the founding of the human genome project.

Here are a few of Watson's politically incorrect winners:

***"People say it would be terrible if we made all girls pretty. I think it would be great."

***"Whenever you interview fat people, you feel bad, because you know you're not going to hire them."

***"Stupidity is a disease and the really stupid bottom 10% of people should be cured." :first:

***"If you could find the gene which determines sexuality and a woman decides she doesn't want a homosexual child, well, let her."

***His lecture argued that extracts of melanin – which gives skin its color – had been found to boost subjects' sex drive. "That's why you have Latin lovers," he said, according to people who attended the lecture. "You've never heard of an English lover. Only an English Patient."

-Because of his fame, age, and brilliance, he was able to slide with all those. Here's the comment that finally got him fired in 2007.-

***He says that he is "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours – whereas all the testing says not really", and I know that this "hot potato" is going to be difficult to address. His hope is that everyone is equal, but he counters that "people who have to deal with black employees find this not true". He says that you should not discriminate on the basis of color, because "there are many people of color who are very talented, but don't promote them when they haven't succeeded at the lower level". He writes that "there is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so.

I have a man crush on this guy.

I have to go with the guy who my hometown is named after.

31.8 John C. Fremont - Explorer

John Charles Frémont or Fremont (January 21, 1813 – July 13, 1890) was an American explorer, politician, and soldier who, in 1856, became the first candidate of the Republican Party for the office of President of the United States. During the 1840s, when he led five expeditions into the American West, that era's penny press and admiring historians accorded Frémont the sobriquet The Pathfinder.

32.1 Josephine Baker - Seductress

Josephine Baker (born Freda Josephine McDonald; 3 June 1906 – 12 April 1975) was an American-born French entertainer, activist, and French Resistance agent. Her career was centered primarily in Europe, mostly in her adopted France. During her early career she was renowned as a dancer, and was among the most celebrated performers to headline the revues of the Folies Bergère in Paris. Her performance in the revue Un Vent de Folie in 1927 caused a sensation in Paris. Her costume, consisting of only a girdle of bananas, became her most iconic image and a symbol of the Jazz Age and the 1920s.

Re pick 32.2.

Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Tom Burnett and Jeremy Glick. Wildcard

All four of these men, and the other passengers of United Flight 93, helped save countless lives and further tragedy on September 11, 2001 by fighting back against the terrorists that hijacked their plane. These four men used their cell phones and in-flight phones to call their loved ones and authorities after hijackers took over their plane. It was then that they learned of the two prior attacks on the World Trade Center. After assessing the situation, the four men rallied the other passengers to fight back against the terrorists, resulting in the plane coming down in a field in Shanksville, PA.

While everyone aboard died, their sacrifice undoubtedly saved others and prevented another American icon from being destroyed though no one knows for sure, experts believe the plane was likely intended to be flown into the White House or the Capitol Building.

Yeah. According to Wikipedia they claim 17, and there are four more they dont claim. I have little idea what that means, but they certainly have a good claim to best college football program of all time.

And Im a Tennessee fan. A liftle piece of my soul died making that pick.

32.5 - Sequoiah - Native American

Though the exact location of Sequoiahs birth and death are unknown due to historically inaccurate writings, he is well known through translation and spoken accounts of having grown up with his mother in Tuskegee, Tennessee. Sequoyah ( S-si-quo-ya in Cherokee) known as George Guess, Guest or Gist, was a silversmith who invented the Cherokee Syllabry, thus earning him a place on the list of inventors of writing systems as well.
