MTSkiBum 1,594 Posted August 14, 2018 The GOP would be smart to put this in ALL of their ads for ALL candidates from now until November. It can't be stressed enough. What is concerning is that Trump is more socialist than Obama. He has increased total spending and domestic spending. Republican's are abandoning capitalism as fast as the Dems. mmmmm...beer 691 Posted August 14, 2018 Its a little too simplistic, and ignores the societal cost of poverty.... If your local city is over run by homelessness, and you have to step over a dozen people sleeping on the sidewalk to go downtown, you aren't going to enjoy the city the same. Maybe you don't go there anymore, city continues to wither away and die. Then it takes down the surrounding suburbs, and continues metasticizing. Oh you mean Portland? Yes.. I don't go downtown or to Portland in general because of it. Human sh!t and piss, campsites, on the sidewalks is why... My wife works there an pays 9.5% state income tax. Portland caters to the homeless... look up "Urban Camping" laws... They tax the fock out of the working people... homeless go there in droves because Portlands the best!! DonS 3,067 Posted August 14, 2018 Yup... Vancouver. Hipster capital of the US! https://www.movehub.com/blog/the-us-hipster-index/ We have friends down in Vancouver. Whenever I've visited him it seemed like nothing but suburbia with tons of shopping plazas. Guess I missed the hipster part of town.

How that is done is up for fair debate. actually there isn't all that will ever be done is moving the poverty level. There will always be the haves and the have mores. Poverty in the US is 95% better than the avg income of the rest of the world lets just say for example everyone gets 20k a year, the person who is dumb and lazy will still struggle to get by as prices rise. The person with drive, work ethic and intelligence will rise, making those that couldnt want more

And you’re excluding a sh!t ton of people already from your original statement.

He was talking about it from a motivation standpoint, and I responded with it comes down to what level of motivation do we accept as the minimum. and with the money example, I said if you gave everyone a million dollars, the guy with 1 million is broke. You raise the poverty level, corporations will raise the cost of products to continue to extract the same amount of $ from the poor. That's why $15 an hour won't work. The minute you do that, corporate America will want that extra $.
