Cloaca du jour 2,080 Posted July 12, 2019 Wife picked a couple up cheap. There is very little fat on em so they will be tough as hell without a good marinade. Im thinking fajitas for one...and a good seasoned one for steak salad. Any quick marinades without 50 exotic ingredients you guys like? Quick to make...not quick to marinate lol
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted July 12, 2019 We make flank steak all the time. Very simple marinade that you can use overnight in a big Ziploc bag: - Low sodium soy sauce - olive oil - lime juice ( you can do fresh, but I use the bottled kind) - salt, pepper, garlic powder (put it on the meat before you put it into the bag). I put the bag in the fridge and then flip it once. Let it go overnight, although you could have it for only 4-5 hours. It is a piece of meat that requires a marinade. When you cook it, I find that on the grill with high heat works best. I will usually have 5 minutes on each side. You also need to cut it correctly. I will cut it at an angle against the grain and I like it medium rare. My family likes it more medium, but for this, they like it more juicy and I give them the end pieces if they want it more medium. You can do it as a fajita, although we will have it with rice or potatoes and some other vegetable.

Quick to make...not quick to marinate lol With Flank I use a garlic paste with penzeys SW seasoning and cook it in a CIS. https://www.penzeys.com/online-catalog/southwest-seasoning/c-24/p-369/pd-s For the LB try the Moore's steak marinade http://www.mooresmarinade.com/Our-Products/Marinade/Moores-Original-Marinade
MDC 5,941 Posted July 12, 2019 I made this marinade a few weeks back and it was great: https://food52.com/recipes/318-hoisin-marinated-pork-tenderloin-on-the-grill Used it on pork tenderloin but I bet it would be great on a London broil. I’d recommend marinading overnight and getting up a nice bark before cooking on low / medium. Went really well with an Asian slaw.

Quick to make...not quick to marinate lol I’ve posted this before about flank steak. Mix 50-50 white granulated sugar and Lawrey’s season salt. Generously season steak and put in ziplock for 1 hr or more. The meat juice mixes with the seasoning making an awesome flavor. Grill to medium rare and let rest. The grill marks are incredible due to the sugar (and tastes awesome too). slice on heavy bias against grain and serve hot or cold Any drippings from the resting meat make an incredible au jus. Especially for fries if you have them with the meal.

MDC 5,941 Posted July 15, 2019 I made some awesome brocoli today. 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 teaspoon soy sauce. Tossed the broccoli in the mixture and dusted with salt, sesame seeds and crushed red pepper. Roasted on a baking tray for 15 mins at 425, stirring a few times. Came out crispy and spicy. Nothing to do with marinades but worth sharing.
