Federal deficit

Recommended Posts

However, it also comes as budget deficits are rising to $1 trillion levels — requiring the government to borrow a quarter for every dollar the government spends — despite the thriving economy and three rounds of annual Trump budget proposals promising to crack down on the domestic programs that Pelosi is successfully defending now. It ignores warnings from deficit and debt scolds who say the nation’s fiscal future is unsustainable and will eventually drag down the economy.

“This agreement is a total abdication of fiscal responsibility by Congress and the president,” said Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a Washington advocacy group. “It may end up being the worst budget agreement in our nation’s history, proposed at a time when our fiscal conditions are already precarious.”

There is no party for fiscal responsibility anymore. Both sides are just as guilty of socialism as the other.

Yep, we're focked.   But seems like a good time to give everyone free healthcare and forgive the loans they agreed to pay back.

I used to think that... over 2 decades ago. Not anymore. The USA is running the only ponzi scheme that won't fail. We are fine. This has been going on for decades. Read about the Trillion dollar coin and MMT because in the near future we will hit $30T, then $50T and then $100T and we will just keep rolling along while those running the ponzi do a d!ck dance every so often making people think it's going to end badly if we don't get spending under control.

Yup... the conservative party is no longer "conservative".  It's the single biggest factor in me moving to the Libertarians.  Too bad this 2 party system is so broken.

No, we're focked.  I don't have kids and we'll be fine until I die but long term we're focked.  But it's not just the deficit.  We're just focked all around.

This part is 100% true. Deficit will not be the cause and will disappear when the fuckage happens and yes, we will be gone. Hope I can view it in the afterlife because I see mad max. Anyone having kids now is subjecting them to a horrible life.

I only know 1 single real Libertarian.  My cousin.  He hates everything and everyone.  A cynic's cynic.  Even he said that the debt isn't a real issue.

Not to get off topic, but I've seen this as a trend among the hardcore libertarians.  Those guys are just focking miserable.

Not a trend, IMO.  I have said this here 1000 times and to anyone I know, "the ONLY thing the Left and Right agree upon is that they hate Libertarians".

The problem is the people.  If a politician truly tried to reign in spending, they'd last one term.

And I might consider you the best example of a Libertarian at this site.

That's because the media from both sides tell you how terrible that person is.

Not as big of an issue as people make it out to be. Especially when you have the most powerful military.

Donald Trump’s flurry of recent tax-cut promises pushed his fiscal plan deep into red ink, and he would increase budget deficits by more than twice as much as Democratic rival Kamala Harris would, according to a new study that is among the most comprehensive estimates to date of the candidates’ proposals.

Trump’s combination of tax cuts, tariff increases, military expansion and mass deportations would widen budget deficits by an estimated $7.5 trillion over the next decade, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, or CRFB, a nonpartisan group that favors lower deficits. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris’s plans—social-policy spending, middle-class tax cutsand tax increases on corporations and high-income households—would increase deficits by $3.5 trillion.”
