How often do you hear a person referred to as 'white' when they are white? Racist? I call black people black and white people white. I guess I'm racist against all of them? People throw around the term 'white supremacist' like it's nothing. Shouldn't offend anyone I guess.

Do you think that players don't know the ball is in his hands and that they don't know where a hand could be located on the human body? You think that Lamar has an ability that other players don't have? That his skin is different than the color of all the other black players on the field that have the ball, all those black WR and RB that are the color of the ball? Lamar is master of disguise, he can make a ball invisible with his magical skin? Why was the broadcaster suspended??? I am waiting for your genius responses. It is an offensive design which allows the qb to either run with the ball, hand it off to a running back, or pass based on defensive looks and reactions. LJ is a qb who has passed the 1000 yd rushing mark with 4 games to go and is an MVP candidate. He is having a fantastic season.

5-Points 3,563 Posted December 7, 2019 29 minutes ago, peenie said: Well, then why was the broadcaster suspended? I was just offering a theory. I guess I am wrong. What is the reason then?? The broadcaster was suspended because the team overreacted to dimwits claiming his remarks were racist. When the center snaps the ball to the QB, everybody knows he has the ball. When the QB fakes a hand off to the RB the defense hesitates until they realize the RB doesn't actually have the ball. When they can't easily see that the QB still has possession, they hesitate a little longer. This can be accomplished by the QB holding the ball down behind their leg or turning their body slightly away from the defense or, as in this case, holding the ball against a dark jersey while also having dark skin which camouflages the ball to a degree that makes it harder to see with bodies flying all over the place. It's not hard for anybody who has played the game to understand but it could be for people who haven't. And then there are those who choose to see racism in everything and feel the need to point it out to those who "should" be offended like they are but are too "dumb" to know better. Well I didn't say it was racist. But you didn't answer what was racist about saying that he has dark skin? What was racist about it? That was my point about bringing up the fact that referring to a person's color as being black was insulting. If that wasn't it then what was racist? I need you to really think about that for a second. If it wasn't because being called dark was racist, what was the racist about the comment.....

There wasn't anything racist about the broadcaster's comments. That's the point. The mere fact that he commented on the shade of somebody's skin, regardless of the context, was enough in today's hypersensitive/snowflake/SJW culture that somebody complained about it which resulted in an unwarranted suspension. Unfortunately this is where we are as a society and until people start telling these SJW's to go fock themselves this is where we will stay. Not for nothin, but I thought that darker skin was considered "better" or "more black" in the black community. Like light skinned blacks were looked down upon in certain circles. Why is it now an insult to mention that somebody is darker than others? Or is it only considered an insult when white people do it?

No, light skinned blacks tend to be favored in society. I think the issue is that the broadcaster was attributing Lamar Jackson's talents to genetic factors and not his skill or hard work and effort which is what some people claim with black athletes. I think that is the reason behind the suspension. I was completely off in left field with my statements about it being an historical insult. Once again, I wasn't offended but I just may be too dumb to have picked up on the offense.

I think that is the reason behind the suspension. I was specifically referring to how blacks viewed light skinned blacks as opposed to darker skinned blacks. Maybe I'm mistaken. I don't think the broadcaster was trying to diminish Jackson's talent or athletic ability. There are plenty of very talented QB's who aren't capable of fooling the defense when it comes to fake hand offs. I think the broadcaster was trying to point out something else that he thought Jackson had working in his favor in his ability to hide the ball from the defense. A dark jersey certainly helps. Dark skin might also be a factor. There's nothing wrong with pointing that out. I guarantee that if Jackson had been wearing a white jersey the comment would not have been made. It was a comment on the lack of contrast between the ball and the backdrop. Nothing more.

It's kind of proven. The people who succeed because their lack of genetics for that particular skill are often called out. Mugsy Bogues for instance? Some of the white NFL receivers? peenie 1,915 Posted December 8, 2019 Being light skinned is a sensitive topic....I'm light skinned but I'm not mixed. I think in general, blacks think that light skinned blacks get a special privilege or pass, but I haven't experienced such privilege. But historically, it does seem that light skinned or mixed folks do seem to be the firsts, you know, they seem to be able to break barriers first. Light skinned women are seen as more beautiful than darker skinned women. But, I'm not like that. I'm just average looking. Overall, yes, there is issues in the black community stemming from slavery that exist today that are too long and boring for me to discuss with you guys. But in families the lighter ones are often favored. Whites seem more comfortable among lighter skinned blacks and as you can see lighter skinned, mixed race and white women are preferred among wealthy black men. This does seem to be the case across cultures. I have a friend in the Philippines and that's a big business there, buying products to lighten your skin. It seems so odd to me that here in America white people try to become tan and people of color elsewhere attempt to become whiter.
peenie 1,915 Posted December 8, 2019 So, that is why I didn't want my light skinned daughter giving her dark skinned best friend monkey banana earrings. Even though they may not have taken offense, I didn't want there to be any occasion in the back of anyone's mind that my daughter was trying to put their daughter down or that my daughter felt superior to their daughter or was in any way trying to give a gift that ridicule their daughter. I know it was cute and funny, but the colorism issues in our community might have been stirred up in that situation.
