The MVP trophy of the World Series is named for Willie Mays. Willie was terrible in his WS appearances. Never hit a HR. Just sayin.

Jesus. All they can talk about with Dusty Baker is that he’s a manager of color. For a race asking us not to see color that seems to be all they talk about in any scenario possible.

I would hope after managing since segregation the dude could focking win one. The reason his teams never won was BECAUSE of him. He Managed some good focking teams. The astros won in spite of him.

Should be named after Barry Bonds. A real MVP - won the most often (seven times) and the most consecutively (four from 2001–04).

I did not notice that.  They seemed to be more talking about his tenure in baseball including his playing career and how it was his first WS as a manager

Padres re-signed RHP Nick Martinez to a three-year contract.

The right-hander will earn $10 million for the 2023 season. The team then holds $16 million options for both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. If the team declines those options, Martinez holds $8 million player options for those seasons. He also has the ability to earn incentives as both a starter or reliever. According to Dennis Lin of The Athletic, Martinez will get $500,000 each at 10, 15, 20 and 25 games started. He'll also earn $100,000 each at 10 and 20 relief appearances, and $200,000 each at 30, 40, 50 and 60 relief appearances. Martinez will also get paid if he's used to finish games -- with $200,000 each at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 games finished.

 the Yankees offered Judge a contract of around eight years and $300 million, which would give him the highest average annual salary of any position player in MLB history. They may go higher if needed to keep up with competitors likes his hometown San Francisco Giants.
