MDC 7,148 Posted May 31, 2023 WINNIPEG - A Roman Catholic priest is accused of sexually assaulting an eight year old girl in a church at a Manitoba First Nation. RCMP were called on Saturday to Little Grand Rapids for a report of a girl being touched inappropriately when she was alone with a priest. The Mounties say he tried to keep her from leaving the church before she was able to flee to her home. Arul Savari has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. Other portions of the report advocate for the mass decriminalization of sex acts. As part of this decriminalization, "consensual sexual conduct, irrespective of the type of sexual activity, the sex/gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression of the people involved, or their marital status, may not be criminalized in any circumstances," according to the report. "Consensual same-sex, as well as consensual different-sex sexual relations, or consensual sexual relations with or between trans, nonbinary, and other gender-diverse people, or outside marriage—whether pre-marital or extramarital—may, therefore, never be criminalized."
