A lot of the episodes are based on subjects like that.  Very few have gay characters but they focus a lot on women and minority rights.  The show is incredibly political.  The main character is a proud, bleeding heart democrat and the antagonist is almost always a strong right wing republican.

It's on HULU.  You should watch it.  It's a great show.

This is all subjective.  If a movie casts a black person, the director could say that the black person was the best choice, but you would say they were only cast for political purposes.  So it's basically 2 opinions.

A perfect example of Woke is what Starbucks did.  Thr 2 black guys that didn't order anything and asked to leave changed their whole policy.  Because they didn't want to be called racist.  So now they let homeless and drug addicts squat in their cafes.  Forced to close stores.

Woke is overboard virtue signaling that leads to the detriment of society.  Or detriment to what you are trying to accomplish.  

It is subjective in movies on an individual case.  But there is no denying the recent (idk 5 years) abundance of wokeness in movies and TV.
