In this day and age, who the fock would expect to be called into the office to be let go? Unless you work as a waiter or something. And even then that would be a pain in the ass going in to work just to have to go back home. Jeez, the first thing that happens when I cut ties with work, whether it be voluntary or not, is my access to all systems will be cut. There are major security steps that need to be taken by the company, especially if you are being fired. I would have to reestablish different logins as ex employee for 401k, insurance, and stocks access etc. I'm not getting called into work to get let go. And honestly I would be pissed if I did. A email and scheduled phone call to wrap up all the details of transitioning to ex employee is all that is needed. There are further details that need to be taken care of and a right way to do it as I mentioned above. People who think being let go by email is terrible only work in menial labor is all I can guess. And that's not even considering serious retaliation other than being locked out of the systems.
