This is hilarious.  Reese said that Mrs. Biden wanted to talk to the team before the game but they didn't want her too.  Reese said that the Biden's didn't have LSU winning so they didn't want to talk to her.  Then she says she wants to visit the Obama's instead.  Here's the funny part, Obama had LSU getting beat in the 2nd round in his bracket.  lol

I was listening to the bill simmons podcast and they brought in Ryan Rusillo and a guy named Van Lathan or something along those lines to talk about the Iowa LSU championship game.  Van is from Louisiana and a big LSU fan.  

They talked about how amazing all the players are.  How Catlin Clark is the next Steph Curry, etc., But one thing that struck me was right at the end, Rusillo asks Van which championship was better between Joe Burrow's win over Clemson or this one.

Van starts talking then catches himself and says, "see you trying to make me..." Then he stops.  Then after a beat he says, "okay.  How about this?  This championship is better!  How about that!?! THIS championship is better!"

And that whole exchange does a good job encapsulating this whole thing.  He obviously had real thoughts.  He obviously was worried about giving them, and after thinking for a second, he immediately sold out and said what he thought wouldn't get him any smoke.   And we all know it.  The take-smiths that generate story lines know they can't actually say what we all know that womens basketball is a tier below.  No one would've even cared if he just said, "well, shìt.  That's football.  Hard to compete." No he can't do that, so now he has to spend the rest of his public life pretending he thinks this women's college basketball championship is more impactful to him then LSU winning a football championship.

The whole discourse around this stuff is just disingenuous.

Big difference is that LSU football winning the title was far more expected than LSU winning the title this year...

Plus this is LSU basketball first national championship ever...  It is better than the Burrow one...

It's besides the point - which is the guy said something he obviously didn't believe - but I'd argue that burrow championship was more unexpected.  If memory serves, LSU was unranked to start the season.  

I'm sure one fo the folks that runs to Google to fact check everything can verify that for me.

The link I provided, just hit "Previous Year" twice.  They were ranked 13th in the preseason.

I take back what I said about women's basketball. 

I don't watch a lot of Kings games, but hearing Domantas Sabonis being talked about as one of the best players in the league, and then seeing his complete inability to use his right hand in any way or make a 12 foot jumper when the defender says off of him all the way into the paint, and then watching him fall down every third play, it is clear I've been vastly overestimating the skill of the men's game.

I ve never seen a defense overplay someone as hard as the warriors are playing his left hand and he just refuse to go to his right.  It's amazing.

Louisville transfer Hailey Van Lith has committed to the LSU Tigers, per her Instagram page. The 5-foot-7 guard is joining Kim Mulkey's 2023 national championship team. 

Van Lith, a First Team All-ACC selection in 2022 and 2023, led the Cardinals in scoring with 19.7 points per game last season. She also registered 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. Along with Iowa star Caitlin Clark, she was one of just two Power Five players to average 19 points, four rebounds and three assists per game.  

She is a dynamic offensive player that can be a good replacement for Alexis Morris -- LSU's second leading scorer, who is now chasing her WNBA dream. Last year, the Tigers had one of the top five scoring offenses in the nation, and will likely stay there next season with the returning and incoming talent.

They were also known as a tough and physical team to play, and Van Lith has a reputation for never backing down from a challenge. After being named an AP All-American Honorable Mention, she made sure to let people know she was ready to prove she was worth a lot more than that.

"I'm not motivated at all by the fact that they named me honorable mention. I know who I am and I know what God thinks I am," she said late March after being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament during the Elite Eight round. "God doesn't think I'm an honorable mention. I'll tell you that right now. I don't need external motivation."

The 21-year-old is still chasing a ring and has two years of college eligibility remaining. Van Lith will also be eligible for the WNBA next year if she choses that route. She was the top player in the transfer portal, which she entered as a "do not contact" prospect, meaning she could reach out to programs but coaches could not reach out to her. 

Coming out of high school, one of Van Lith's top schools was Baylor -- when Mulkey was still coaching the Bears.

The Tigers just earned the school's first ever NCAA Tournament championship in basketball -- men's or women's. Van Lith's move to Baton Rouge only strengthens the Tigers' chances at defending that title next year as their star player Angel Reese is also returning. 

Reese was the Tigers' top scorer and rebounder last season, while registering 34 double-doubles to mark a single-season NCAA record. Other impactful players coming back include Flau'jae Johnson and Kateri Poole. Mulkey's team will also get an extra boost with the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.
