Cancel Bud Light! Maga Hissy Fit!

The stock plummeting is being driven by the expectation that Bud is committing market suicide. But it’s a bit early for that.

It would be wise to wait and see. They might not be “Giletting” themselves

Who knows

This situation is entirely different from Dollar Shave Club vs Gillette.

Many grocery chains were bought out and there is a clear consolidation at work. As long as Bud Light is seen as entry level "cheap beer", there will be a market for it. But a lot of that depends on people's ability to access it. So if one of the few remaining grocery juggernauts decides to keep some beer in and some beer out, that could be a problem for competitors. Razors are cheap to ship. Beer, that has to be accessed locally.

The common argument from this marketing strategy seems to be that X number of lost older legacy customers is worth less than Y number of new younger potential lifetime customers.

It's a bad bet. While the woman in charge of this marketing nightmare might get her name in the paper ( likely her intent for her own career), the financial losses reaped will trickle down to potential lost jobs for regular working class people in the company already.

Good honest people who need these lower level jobs will lose them over this wokeness. That's the part no one is talking about but should be talking about.

Yes LC, college kids drink beer, not as much as in years past, the hard seltzers are very popular now.

I'm sure you did not attend college or join a fraternity.

No, I wasn't privileged like you. I didn't have a rich Daddy. I joined the Military and became a Man.

I was 2 tours deep while you and your friends were eating Tide Pods.

A 6 year old kid is not going to ask what that flag means. They would only know if their parents raise a fuss about it and tell them what it is.

Yup, like yelling about sucking d1ck in the middle of a mall.  What a doosh, triggered by a pin.  Kudos to the store employees for remaining calm.

When I was in college we went for the stuff even cheaper than Bud Light.  But even if they do drink it, you’re only in college for 4 years, and legal to drink for like 2.   Makes sense to try to diversify.  Now of course trans folks aren’t a big market either.

I doubt it was a successful marketing campaign.

Probably not a longer term thing but, sales are down over the last week, that's documented.

We'll see how it plays out.

And apparently they’ve been down for years.  We don’t know if it’s gotten worse unless we’re just extrapolating quotes from some random bar owners to the whole country

A year ago Anhesuer Busch stock was trading at 58.78 per share. October 20, 2022 it was trading at 45.16 per share. Right now it is trading at 63.38 per share which is up 8.19% YOY.

5 years ago it was trading at 104.80 per share. It was trading at 40.30 per share around the time of the pandemic starting. June 18, 2021 it was trading at 74.99 per share and on October 8, 2021 it was at 54.95 per share because Bud Light had bet big on the hard seltzer market at the beginning of the pandemic and then the bottom dropped out of that.

That is all to say that an intelligent person would look at this and see "Well damn....the price of beer stock for them is all over the place in the past 5 years and is really at the whims of the seasons and market factors." A dumb person would say "They gave the trans person a beer and now they go woke go broke HURPY DUR BRO!"

You guys really need to turn off the pundits, log off the social media outrage factory and actually read and study some things. It's amazing what you might actually learn if you try.

Also, 5 days is a dumb way to look at the stock market. You really need to look at the very least at quarters...but you also need to look at YOY, 5 year rolling averages, and factor in outside variables.

It just shocks me that people go through life unwilling to learn, unwilling to question things, unwilling to educate themselves.  It's amazing to me.  We live in an age where there is so much information at your fingertips to consume and think about and make decisions, yet people be like "WELL THAT GUY SOUNDED GUD SO IMMA JUST RE PEET WAT HE SAID"

It really is willful ignorance at this point. People don't like to think for themselves and social media- hell even message boards- make it easier for people to just parrot someone else so they "sound smart."

I mean the reality is- the cans were not really any different than like when Bud Light (or any other AB product) makes specialty cans for things- everything from NFL season to deer season to John Deere to this. They weren't selling these cans though apparently...it was just to get this influencer (which is another stupid job we've elevated in our society) to promote the beer to their audience. The idea that "Well the trans guy drinks it so I can't..." is some dumb logic. But the world runs on dumb people anymore.

They are up 8% month over month and expected to report 22 billion in revenue which is up 15% from the prior quarter. Stock price peaked about 2 years ago and then has steadily dwindled down for a variety of factors- most notably bad executive decisions by the previous head of the company

Their 5 year stock price is about where it was 5 years ago.

They're doing fine.  Revene is growing, Operating costs are too high but they are fixing that with cuts, they will be just fine.  They won their battle with Desantis.  They are not going broke.

Thai guy. In one thread he said people are stupid for looking at 5 weeks in the stock market. Then he turns around and goes back a month to try and make a point.  Like I said, you can’t keep up with your own stupidity. It just flows.

I can see stock price as part of the Disney argument, but Bud Light is a product, and only a part of Anheuser Busch anyway.  We need to see sales numbers, and it’s way too early for that.  A few random anecdotes of bar owners saying their sales were down during Easter weekend when the same week last year wasn’t Easter doesn’t really mean much.

That was also in this thread I made that post so you could've looked. You are an idiot. This is why you are preyed upon so easily by the dopes.

Also, in the post you responded to I mentioned month over month (which is a way people look at things), I looked at revenue rise over last quarter, I looked at a 2 year run and a 5 year run.

Again- you could stand to learn something if you stopped listening to Tucker.

Which is why I also mentioned market factors. I mean it was widely reported at the beginning of the pandemic beverage companies were going strong after the hard seltzer market. It picked up for a while and then dropped off so it affected stock market because people weren't buying as much of something they had invested stock in. The prices were also affected by aluminum potential shortages based off of Trump policies. We also still had market effects of a pandemic. It isn't price going down because of "woke policies." In fact, by looking at market cap and stock prices you can see there are trends they ebb and flow with every year.

Everybody of every demographic goes to Disney.

Everybody of every demographic drinks beer whether it is piss water swill, fruity, or 12% ABV. Anheuser Busch is one of 3 major companies who makes those beers, and there are some people who are super territorial about the beer they drink.

It is a fragment of people who get pissed about stuff and try to boycott it thinking it will make a bit of difference.
