Opie & Anthony - Old radio show that made me laugh

Recommended Posts

You guys remember these clowns?  Back in the 90s when you used to listen to FM radio?  These guys saved me from hours of commuting, sitting in traffic, made me laugh.

They were never funny.

Opie wasn't. Anthony & Jimmy were hilarious. Not to mention Patrice, Burr, Louis and all the other regulars that would sit in.

Hands down the best show on radio at the time.

Anthony was one of the funniest people I've ever listened to.  The show was funny, it worked great with all the comics they had in.  I got XM because they moved there and enjoyed the show for many years.  Stopped listening around the last year before Anthony got fired.  Had no interest in his Compound show, no interest in Jim and Sam, Opieradio is garbage.  Pretty amazing that they were so good together but so terrible apart.

I remember listening to them at some point, so I think they were on a west coast station at some point (I've never paid for satellite radio). I do remember thinking they were funny, but a wee bit offensive.

They had Whip Them out Wednesday, IIRC. And when I heard that I had a feeling they wouldn't last long out here for some reason. And they didn't.

I've subscribed to Ant's Compound show since day 1. He's still funny AF. Obviously the best shows are when he has Jimmy on but he has other guests who are pretty funny as well.

It isn't the same caliber of funny as the old O&A shows but they wouldn't even be allowed to do that show today.

Yes, they were syndicated nationally, yes very offensive, none of it would fly these days.

And yes WOW was a thing.  Here in the NYC Metro, there were WOW stickers all over trucks.  I never seen anyone whip em out though.

Ant lost me when he went Alt Right and became obsessed with politics.  I just wanted to hear him make jokes and do impressions.  I still followed his twitter, until he got banned, and watched some of the youtube videos of parties at the compound.

I did enjoy listening to him on the chip chipperson podcast, but he hasn't been on since he moved to SC.

He's been on Twitter under different handles the whole time. When Musk took over he got his original handle back.

He hasn't moved yet, he's staying "in a hovel in Hell's Kitchen" right now while the studio gets built in SC.

I haven't seen a new Chip Chipperson podcast in quite a while. Did he move to another platform?

I do remember seeing one sticker out here. never saw anyone whip em out either, and never did it myself.

Ah, maybe I'll look him back up on Twitter again.

Last Chip ep I see was June.  Lost track of most everyone from the show.  The only "regular" thing is the Vos podcast My Wife Hates Me, still love that.

Really never got into them…. Probably because of the time slot…

Now Don and Mike was a different story…. They were great to listen to on the way home from work…

Don and Mike were the best ever.  So happen that they were doing a show in NY on 9/11 that show was amazing, I’ll never forget their insight on what as taken place.  Their shows where non stop entertainment.

O&A....with Bill Burr, Patrice O'Neal, Patton Oswalt, Louie C.K., Little Jimmy all sitting in at various times was top notch.

Ron and Fez..on after them, were right up there too.

Real funny guy , quick on his feet. Always found him a little creepy with his penchant for really young girlfriends

the show had a lot of great guests

I was a fan, on WBCN in Boston, and then on Sirius. Loved that they had all the comedians on. Many mentioned, Brian Regan was always great.

They had some great bits. One of the funniest was when they had people tell the stories of how they found their parents sex toys and then high school kids started calling in and Anthony had them go into their parents bedroom and find their sex toys. I had to pull over as I was laughing so hard. YouTube has over a hundred episodes with Patrice on O&A start to finish.Good stuff worth listening to.

I was a huge fan Of Stern until I saw his move which I call revenge of the need. And then he fired Jackie after all of his years of commitment because he’s a greedy Jew bastard. O&A was a breath of fresh air. Way more entertaining than when Stern fired the joke man.
