Same. I would love for someone to make the argument that in this country Black people are a net positive. I don’t seriously think you can.

It was not a good argument. But that's ok.

The lafy who shot the guy in the face was just some good old fashioned pay back because she was sold to a white guy here. 😆

Here’s the thing. Someone, not me, complained that all black people, not just black criminals, but all black people have had no purpose and why were we here. A poster earlier made this comment. I RESPONDED that your ancestors purchased us and brought us here. We worked for free for centuries and made the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe rich. Sadly, we were mistreated and many of us (but not most) live lives of struggle and inequality.
Not sure where you misunderstood my reply but Africans and Arabs sold slaves and some still do in this day sell slaves.
I’m waiting for any of you to educate ME, please, I’m waiting still……

And we are still waiting for an apology from you for the actions of your ancestors. Maybe you could include a chart on your planned dispersement of reparations.

News flash - Blacks don’t have a monopoly on suffering.  Half my family emigrated (escaped) to the US during the Great 47.  1 million people starved.  Another million emigrated.  Ireland still hasn’t recovered - the population today is 25% less than it was in 1845.  The other half of my family emigrated (escaped) from Southern Italy in the early 1900’s.  After receiving a Purple Heart fighting for the US in WWI, my grandfather still faced anti-Italian discrimination for decades.  His family went hungry during the Great Depression - so much so that my mother was malnourished as a child and had brittle bones her whole life.  I could go on, but why bother?  The simple truth is that nobody focking cares.  Everyone has their cross to bear.  Just bear it, stop complaining, and be grateful for what you have.  Pity is a negative emotion.

It's surreal how many black people can't allow themselves to fit in to American society. Greatest country ever and they simply want to destroy it. Must suck to live your life carrying around distant anger.

That person that was complaining was not me. Did you miss it? They asked what positive thing did blacks bring to this country? I wasn’t complaining, I answered the question that was posed. My answer was centuries of free labor. That’s not a complaint but rather a fact.

Where am I angry?
It’s funny, Zimmerman stalked and killed an unarmed teenage boy, after being told not to follow Trayvon Martin, yet white folks across the nation, without learning all the facts, sided with Zimmerman. I personally, don’t believe in shooting to kill without clear threat of death but you all do. Yet, no one even considered for a second that she may have felt threatened?

That was different.

Because the person killed there was a black teenager. Not a white grandpa.

Also the kid had skittles and iced tea! :ninja:

Good point. Notice how quickly the narrative comes out that he was a nice grandpa just going to apologize for hitting her car. By the way, I don’t doubt that this was case. I immediately got so sad for this man and his family. However, I also note that negative images and stories come out when the victim is black and the assailant is white. Trayvon was shown wearing a ‘scary threatening hoodie’ and they published pictures him holding a gun when was unarmed. I’m just noting how the media tries to paint a portrait of everyone involved before all the facts come out. If she’s (the shooter) from California and a car hits you gently and someone got out (and is parked behind you) that could mean you’re about to get robbed. Now, clearly it’s not usually some old white guy but a street savvy person is thinking they’re getting ´run up on’. That is my opinion of what was going on in her mind. It happens. People get robbed like that all the time.

Maybe she felt he was going to rob her or she felt threatened. It happens. I think you shouldn’t come to a conclusion until you hear all the facts which includes her perspective. At least that’s what the public is told whenever there is an unarmed person who was shot by the police. We mustn’t jump to conclusions. Remember when that woman shot that black man while he was in his own apartment? We had to wait, because she thought she was in her apartment and that’s why she killed him, it was a mistake.

You should dig in a little bit about who was selling whom at the first link in the chain.  Americans weren’t going on slaving incursions into Africa and the Caribbean.

@peenie ‘s statement wasn’t about how the slaves got here.  It was about their labor being a net positive for this society, which talking clearly of the result of their labor, it was.  There would likely be no Charleston, etc, without it.

Of course many would argue that participating in slavery (regardless of who was selling the slaves) was a negative to society, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that @cyclone24, who joked about bringing back slavery, doesn’t think so.

Says who? I don’t think Native Americans blame blacks for their destruction and the ruin of the country as they knew it. We predominantly live in the major cities, what’s the excuse for the rest of the country? The price of food, the high cost of homes, the lack of manufacturing jobs, the opioid crisis, the high cost of healthcare are not the fault of black people.

OJ Simpson stalked and killed his wife the mother of his children and a young man in a jealous rage,  black folk across the nation without any facts said he was innocent then cheered his acquittal.  It happens

And just look what you’ve done to most metro places. They are hell holes.

in Iowa we are 99% white. We live in a nice neighborhood. Of course they build HUD housing out here by us and guess where all the problems are and with who.

I would love to see neighborhood where Black people have moved in and made it a better place.

I think blacks that are poor and living in densely packed high rise structures in food and job deserts are living in conditions that are abnormal. Even rats will kill and even eat each other without proper food, space and lack of resources.
Blacks can certainly improve in this area. We don’t do as good a job as other groups in caring for where we live.
But, I think the areas that are really nice aren’t often shown. Lots of places especially in the Atlanta metro area are pristine and beautiful.

First, despite the medias intense focus, most black people I knew, didn’t follow the case closely. They just felt he was innocent without understanding the facts of the case. Many did not trust the police and believed the police corrupted the evidence and felt he was set up. I actually was one of the few who was interested and followed the story closely. I thought he was guilty and felt the prosecution proved its case.
Even my Dad, who played football and knew OJ believed he was innocent. Until this very day he’ll say that OJ was really nice and super friendly and not the type at all. He said OJ didn’t have that sort of personality. OJ likes a good time and was easy going. You know…some men don’t want to understand that behind closed doors people can be different.

In public, In a busy parking lot with folks watching the results of a minor fender bender.  Sure, she may have felt threatened, but she had no right to.  If we give her the right or the grace you are suggesting she could just go about shooting anybody at any time.  Anyone so damaged has no place in society.  We need to ship them off to the island of misfit toys.  We use to use America and particularly Australia for this, but alas those options are not longer available.  Maybe we can use the island of plastic floating in the pacific.

I thought his point was that the telescope wasn’t created for the purpose of war but it was used to help military see better and have the user an advantage. Do you disagree? Or are you just argumentative by nature?

My point was that I really wish that whites wouldn’t just throw all blacks in the same basket as criminals and no-good just because they see a news story about an individual black person that committed a crime.

Lastly, just as blacks were expected to reserve judgement against that white police officer lady that killed that black man who was in his own apartment or against George Zimmerman and at least 30 other cases I can think of, perhaps don’t call her this woman a b-word or claim all blacks are this or that.

If you can’t do it, then don’t expect blacks to reserve judgement before the trial is over in the next case that comes up.

I think those people are living in concentrated poverty. It’s not like they have nice homes, good schools or jobs.
