Hunnicutt was more interesting and a better character than Trapper. Frank Burns was too much of a caricature, and Winchester was more fun because he was just as smart or smarter then BJ and Hawkeye, so he was a better foil. I'll give ya the Potter vs. Henry one, but it's close. Blake's character was funnier. For me the sweet spot was after Potter, Hunnicutt, and Winchester arrived but before Radar left. To me the absurdity of the whole thing was the appeal. Thus the caricatures that were burns and blake fit better to me. Overall, i felt the show suffered as Alan Alda got his fingerprints on it more and more, so it could be more that than the character changes to be honest.
