EternalShinyAndChrome 4,103 Posted July 5, 2024 "Conservative" in England is really just center left here. "Labour" in England is far left here. So the OP's assertion should really be more like "a rejection of center-left" policies.
EternalShinyAndChrome 4,103 Posted July 5, 2024 Fun Fact: The OP claims to be moderate conservative. He voted for some conservative once 20 years ago in a school board election so he considers himself conservative now.

IGotWorms 4,058 Posted July 5, 2024 Sounds like the Toreys ran the place into the ground with their antigovernment ideas. We’ll probably do the same here. Won’t be as bad for us since we don’t have national healthcare etc, but the lack of public investment does manifest itself eventually. Probably will be cuts to social security and Medicare, likely Medicaid as well. Public education (though can’t get a lot worse for higher education at least). Infrastructure was really aided by Biden getting that done, but I’m sure we’ll slide back into deferred maintenance there. Probably did buy ourselves a couple decades in that area though so at least there’s that
