@TimHauckย : you avoiding answering the question?

I canโ€™t tell if youโ€™re trying to gotcha me into admitting that Khelif is a man, or if you actually think the Thai boxer is a man too.

Iโ€™ve saidย I donโ€™t know if Khelif is a man, but seeing as how Khelif was disqualified in the same event where multiple boxers were accused of โ€œtrying to trick people into thinking theyโ€™re female,โ€ but the Thai boxer was not, yeah thatย seems like pretty good evidence that the Thai boxer is in fact a female.

So more details have come out about the testing the IBA did and it seems very legit.ย

Boxing group answers some questions but raises many more about tests on Imane Khelif, Lin Yu-ting

Quote

ย

PARIS (AP) โ€” The International Boxing Association raised new questions while struggling to answer others Monday at a shambolic news conference about the opaque eligibility tests that led the Olympics-banned governing body to abruptly suspendย Imane Khelifย andย Lin Yu-tingย from last yearโ€™s world championships, a decision that has fueled online abuse against the women during the Paris Games.

The IBA still refused to disclose nearly all details about the tests and their results or methodologies leading to the disqualifications of Khelif of Algeria and Lin of Taiwan. Those decisions catalyzedย a major uproar in Parisย around the two boxers, who have clinched Olympic medals despite facing rampant misconceptions about their gender amid a widerย divide over gender regulationsย and identity in sports.

Chris Roberts, the IBAโ€™s secretary general and CEO, claimed that the Olympic committees of Algeria and Taiwan wrote letters to the IBA asking them not to disclose information about the boxers at the news conference in Paris.

What information it did reveal about the tests was mostly not flattering to the governing body, which receivedย an unprecedented banishment from the Olympics last yearย following decades of troubled governance and longstanding accusations of a thorough lack of normal transparency

ย

Yeah, the most recent news has been glowing for the IBA.ย

ย

PARIS โ€” The International Boxing Association, the organization whose decision to disqualify Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan from the 2023 world championships is at the heart of a firestorm engulfing the Olympic tournament, hosted a news conference on Monday โ€œdedicated to the detailed explanation of the reasons for the disqualificationโ€ of the two fighters.

Instead, what followed was a two-hour affair of little explanation, a great deal of obfuscation, and a series of evasive answers to reportersโ€™ questions that did nothing to back up the IBAโ€™s claims that the women should be ineligible to compete in womenโ€™s divisions, even though they were both assigned female at birth and identify on official documents as women.

The controversy escalated last week when Khelifโ€™s round-of-16 opponent at theย Olympics, Italyโ€™s Angela Carini, quit their bout after just 46 seconds after taking hard punches from Khelif and saying she couldnโ€™t go on.

The unusual and swift ending to such a high-profile fight called extra attention to Khelif and Linโ€™s disqualifications at the 2023 worlds, an event run by the IBA, an organization backed by the Russian energy giant Gazprom that has been expelled from its association with the International Olympic Committee and the Games themselves.

Khelif and Lin were disqualified in the middle of the 2023 tournament, a few days after Khelif had defeated a Russian boxer, Azaliia Amineva. The IBA said Khelif and Lin were found to have โ€œcompetitive advantages over other female competitors.โ€

Khelif said in an interview published Monday by The Associated Press and its video partner SNTV that she feels her best response to the โ€œfierce campaignโ€ against her is to win a gold medal.

โ€œThis thing has effects, massive effects. It can destroy people, it can kill peopleโ€™s thoughts, spirit, and mind,โ€ she said. โ€œAnd it can divide people. And because of that, I ask them to refrain from bullying.โ€

On Monday, with a platform to lay out their supposed evidence for the disqualifications, IBA president Umar Kremlev spent most of his time speaking in vague terms about upholding rules, defending democracy and dissatisfaction with IOC president Thomas Bach, while repeatedlyย criticizing the opening ceremonyย of the Paris Games.

The expert doctor the IBA brought to the panel โ€” Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, a former chair of the IBAโ€™s medical committee โ€” offered little in medical specifics, saying, at one point, โ€œI donโ€™t want to speak too much medicine to you.โ€

Asked how anyone could trust the IBA after years of judging scandals, financial corruption and other misdeeds, Chris Roberts, the organizationโ€™s secretary general, talked about bureaucratic successes that had little to do with public trust.

About the closest anyone got to adding detail was when talking about two separate blood tests they said Khelif and Lin underwent, though no documentation of the tests were provided. One test was performed in Istanbul in 2022 and deemed โ€œinconclusive,โ€ Roberts said. A second test was then performed at the world championships in 2023 that led to their subsequent disqualifications.

The IBA officials said the national Olympic committees of Chinese Taipei (the Olympic designation for Taiwan) told them not to disclose private information about any boxers.

Instead, the officials spoke in broad and often contradictory terms about gender, sex and their own tests. Kremlev said the testing showed testosterone levels as high as those for men but that he could not give any proof. The comment contradicted IBAโ€™s official statement last Thursday, in which it stated that โ€œthe athletes did not undergo a testosterone examination.โ€ But, repeatedly, IBA officials referred to high testosterone levels at Mondayโ€™s news conference.

โ€œWeโ€™re not able to disclose the results of any tests,โ€ Roberts said. โ€œBut you can read between the lines about where that sits.โ€

Kremlev said Monday that the IBA would compensate the โ€œwomen victimsโ€ who lost to Khelif and Lin at the Paris Games, saying that they were harmed by the inclusion of the two fighters in the event. He did not express any concern for the mental or physical wellbeing of Khelif and Lin, who have found themselves at the center widespread scorn, though he was asked specifically about them.

Khelifโ€™s coach, Mohamed Chaoua, in an interview with SNTV and the AP, dismissed the IBAโ€™s tests as โ€œworthless.โ€ โ€œThey (boxing authorities) did some worthless tests, tests that donโ€™t show anything, the only test that matter is the sexual one, the only test to prove a person is a man or a woman, or trans,โ€ Chaoua said in the interview. โ€œThey didnโ€™t (do those tests). They took blood samples and said they found this and that.โ€

The IOC โ€” which has said that countries that stay loyal to the IBA are risking boxing at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics โ€” has repeatedly defended Khelif and Linโ€™s inclusion in the Games, saying they meet all eligibility criteria.

โ€œThey are eligible by the rules of the federation which was set in 2016, and which worked for Tokyo too,โ€ where Khelif and Lin also competed, IOC spokesman Mark Adams said last week. โ€œTo compete as women, which is what they are. And we fully support that.โ€

Khelifโ€™s quarterfinal opponent, Hungaryโ€™s Anna Luca Hamori, added fuel to the controversy before their bout with a series of disparaging social media posts that played into the IBAโ€™s messaging. Their fight went the distance, with Khelif winning by unanimous decision. The two seemed cordial after the fight, but the Hungarian fighterโ€™s camp did not exactly douse the fire in its post-fight comments.

โ€œWe are not afraid of difficult circumstances and are ready to fight even among difficult circumstances,โ€ said Balรกzs Fรผrjes, a Hungarian International Olympic Committee member. โ€œWe are proud founding members of the international Olympic family. We are 100 percent convinced that the International Olympic Committee will make the right decisions.โ€

After beating Hamori, Khelif collapsed to the mat in tears. She told the AP the whole ordeal was weighing on her.

โ€œI couldnโ€™t control my nerves,โ€ Khelif said. โ€œBecause after the media frenzy and after the victory, there was a mix of joy and at the same time. I was greatly affected because honestly. It wasnโ€™t an easy thing to go through at all. It was something that harms human dignity. And this is what affected me at the end of the match.โ€

Nearly two hours into Mondayโ€™s news conference, most of the reporters present relocated toward the back of the room, where another Algerian boxer, Roumaysa Boualam, spoke in support of Khelif, her friend. Boualam held the Algerian flag as she called the entire ordeal โ€œdisgusting.โ€

โ€œShe will box, and she will fight,โ€ Boualam said. โ€œThis is unfair, whatโ€™s happened. โ€ฆ We have to support her.โ€

Khelif (66 kilograms, 125 pounds) and Lin (57 kilograms, 145 pounds) have already clinched medals by making the semifinals in their respective weight classes. Boxing has no bronze medal bout โ€” the semifinal losers each get a bronze and are not asked to fight again.

Khelif fights Tuesday night at Roland Garros, which is converting one of its arenas to a boxing venue with tennis concluded. Lin fights Wednesday night.

Lol wtf? Iโ€™m sure @Strikeย still thinks this is a respected organization though.

Based on this news conferenceย it seems to have made their case worse IMO, for 2 main reasons:

1. ย Saying the 2022 tests were inconclusive, after their prior official statement said that was taken into consideration for why the boxersย were disqualified in 2023.

2. ย Saying the boxers had high testosterone, after their prior official statement said they didnโ€™t even test them for testosterone

I asked you previously if she tested as XX - you couldn't answer.ย  You just said she has a vagina so that made her a woman which, of course, would be a normal assumption in 99.9% of cases.ย  However, she is not a normal case soย what I'm telling you is that she will need to test for XX to determine if she TRULY is a woman.ย  Sounds like she was born with XY chromosomes but with woman parts.ย  If she does, indeed, have XY then she's biologically a male.

It also sounds like she was previously tested and she did pop for XY chromosomes which eliminated her from previous competitions.ย ย

That's fine, but the problem in sports is that if she actually has XY chromosome she gets all the benefits of those whereas other women don't. That includes the testosterone and everything else that comes along with being a man.

Look if a doctor lied on a medical exam report no one would've predicted that was the outcome. And that doctor should have their medical license revoked if they knowingly hid results. And of course it's not cool for men to beat up women. That is an idiotic logical jump to make.

It's fair to point out all we have right now is a "leaked report" which has led arguments astray already a few times in the past month or so.

Also, Piers Morgan wrote a nice essay on this and including this paragraph:ย

Quote

ย

The report concluded that Khelif is impacted by something called 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a disorder only found in biological males.

This disorder becomes obvious at puberty, when the person experiences unusual male-like muscle and hair growth, and has no breast tissue development or menstruation.

To be fair to Khelif, many males born with 5-alpha may incorrectly believe they are female into adulthood unless they are properly tested. In other words, he may genuinely have thought he was a woman for much of his life.
