RFK endorses Trump

Odds

On Friday, the Democratic nominee was still listed as the underdog, but had cut into Trump's lead, leaving him with a 50 percent to 49 percent advantage at the time of publication.

Both nominees were tied at 49 percent each earlier in the day, but Trump regained a small lead following independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s announcement that he was suspending his 2024 presidential campaign and endorsing the former president.

Polling

- from article posted August 18th

Trump was, however, reported to hold a 49% to 48% margin in Pennsylvania in a head-to-head matchup, as well as 51% to 49% with undecided voters' support allocated, according to the Emerson College Polling/RealClearPennsylvania survey released on Friday (August 16). The two candidates are both reported to have 47% support, respectively, when third-party candidates are on the ballot, with Robert F. Kennedy at 3% and 2% claiming to be undecided.

Kennedy cited free speech, the war in Ukraine and “a war on our children” as among the reasons he would try to remove his name from the ballot in battleground states.

“These are the principal causes that persuaded me to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent, and now to throw my support to President Trump,” Kennedy said at his event in Phoenix.

However, he made clear that he wasn’t formally ending his bid and said his supporters could continue to back him in the majority of states where they are unlikely to sway the outcome. Kennedy took steps to withdraw his candidacy in at least two states late this week, Arizona and Pennsylvania, but election officials in the battlegrounds of Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin said it would be too late for him to take his name off the ballot even if he wants to do so.

I think Hunter Biden and I are both thinking the same thing after reading your post and that is "Man, if I could get my cocaine AND my bear meat from one source at the same time that would be super convenient".

All I’ve seen today are uneducated racist Dems getting upset cause they have literally every single other party against them along with half their own party  They’re setting social media on FIRE trying to push positive propaganda while also pushing false narratives about Trump & RFK only for literally NOONE to be putting up with it anymore

This will be one the BIGGEST landslide victories in the history of our country for Trump this election. It won’t even be close

That's okay.  According to @squistion and @timschochet the "opposition" parties other than the GOP only total 14 votes out of roughly 160 million voters.  No big deal!!

Yeah, of course.  It's implied when you use any of the words "Democrat", "Liberal" or "Progressive" in a sentence.

Scientology only wishes it had as man brain-dead, zealous and loyal followers as the DNC does.

I JUST got done telling Tim that no conservatives were guaranteeing victory and gloating like he is and here you are.

I don't think anyone should be predicting victory, much less "landslide" victory.  I'd say cool your jets as we have no idea how this is going to play out.  I think this is anyone's election.

Let's not be like the other side.

RFK Jr said people who were in the Tea Party movement, most of whom are now MAGA, are racists who didn’t want a black person to be president and dreamed of reviving the old Confederacy.

For the record I am neither gloating nor predicting victory, much less a landslide. I THINK Kamala has the edge. I THINK she is more likely to win than lose at this point. But it’s still too close to call.

I’m not a fan of RFK, Jr. but I’m praying for him today.

He was rushed to the hospital today in hypocritical condition.

So someone with brain worms is endorsing someone without brains and that's supposed to make me excited to vote for the brainless guy?

Members of the Kennedy family denounce RFK Jr.'s decision to endorse Trump

WASHINGTON — Multiple members of the Kennedy family denounced Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to endorse former President Donald Trump, calling the move a "betrayal."

"We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride," said a statement signed by five of the former independent presidential candidate's siblings.

"We believe in Harris and Walz," the statement continued. "Our brother Bobby's decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story."

The statement includes signatures from Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy and Rory Kennedy.

Joe Kennedy III, a grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, reacted to the statement, sharing it on X and writing that it was "well said."

There were definitely a decent number of people in his camp, and every single one of them would have voted Trump if choosing between Trump and Harris, so it’s great for Trump that he’s dropping out. People that actually called RFK a Democrat are funny though.

I knew Robert Kennedy ( senior) well enough to know that he would be devastated to know that his son would endorse a person who is the anthesis of every value he stood for

Mia Farrow is a great judge of character.

Is there any polling that bears that out? RFKJ’s whole schtick was saying both candidates suck and he was nominally a Dem. Why would every one of his supporters now go to a guy they could have voted for anyway?

Edit:

Poll from Pew research. RFKJ voters said they were less partisan and less likely to vote at all than Harris/Trump voters. His supper plunged when Biden left the race and former RFKJ voters went to Harris 2-1 over Trump. A slightly larger share lean Republican than Democrat.

Not sure what to make of this but it doesn’t seem like a landslide in either direction.
