The Bloody Mary Thread

Recommended Posts

I usually play golf at courses that have a full bar and allow me to start my round off with a Bloody Mary. Tomorrow I’m playing a muni with no bar and  will be smuggling in everything need to make my own. The problem is, I’ve never made one. Give your recipes and tips so I can do it right.

I have the vodka and BM mix. I need the extras that make them great.

Paging @MikeMatt

Easy way is your vodka of choice and V8 plus hot sauce. I use a couple of squirts of Sriracha.

Shotsup will have a few suggestions.

I don’t have a great recipe. What BM mix are you using? I like Zing Zang and add some celery salt and Tabasco.

I'm a Lefty O'douls fan myself. It just requires a little more pep. Hence my Sriracha recommendation.

Plus green olives and bacon. Maybe some celery. I'm not big on the garnishes.

I was going to suggest olives, bacon, and celery, depending on his taste and amount of effort he wants to put in.

My local liquor store had Mr & Mrs T brand in regular and bold. I bought the bold version.

 they're mandatory for me but:

I'm guessing he wants the bare minimum since he's going to be swinging clubs while imbibing.

I have dill pickle spears ready to go, but really want some ideas for spices. Is black pepper enough or do I need to incorporate more?

The spicier the better as far as I'm concerned. Honestly, a few squirts of Huy Fong Sriracha is plenty of heat. But I wouldn't be opposed to a couple of bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers to accompany my BM.

To each, his own.

I don’t care much for the olives and celery garnish and assuming you’re playing a local muni that might be jerks about outside beverages, you’re probably going to have it in an insulated thermos of sorts. Guess you could still pop in the celery stick if you like it.

titos, tomato juice, little bit of fresh lemon juice, liberal drops of hot sauce of your choice, pepper, pinch of salt. All poured over your ice which makes the insulated thermos/tumbler key.

someone mentioned v8. While I enjoy v8, I think it’s too thick for a quality Bloody Mary

I pay and take my cart to my truck. I put my cooler with the supplies in the basket in between my seat and the clubs. They aren’t a-holes about it as long as you are discreet. I’m in on celery and pickle spears if I was making at home, but I’m making on the go type stuff tomorrow

Vodka

Celery salt, worsteshier, crushed green olives, pepper, garlic (not much) a tad bit of horseradish, and a half of lime with an half a beer to make it less thick.

Yes sir. Also, fawk getting a BM with salad in it. I go to a place for breakfast that puts three shucked raw oysters in it and leftover crawfish, shrimp, or crabs, from the boil.
