Walgreens is closing approximately 1,200 stores across the United States as the pharmacy chain struggles with slumping consumer spending.

Its a shame. I can't think of a better symbol at the moment to represent poor blue inner cities than Walgreens. We'll other than graffiti, homeless, drugs and chit on the street.

We have 1 Walgreens in my city and I think 4 or 5 CVS'

We have 3 dunkin donuts, 1 starbucks, 1 mcds, 1 dominoes.  I think that is all for 'fast food'

For the past 20 years it seemed like a Walgreens and a CVS was going up on every corner of America.  Looks like that wasn't the smartest plan.

Amazing that the Biden-Harris America gets blamed for closures attributed to people going online instead. Amazing that people politicize fundamental economics that have nothing to do with who is president. Then they should rebrand as Pharmacy only.  The Target's around me have CVS and Walgreen's pharmacies in them as a subsection.  They don't need a whole store.

Sears was pretty famously mismanaged too leading to its demise. It's a shame that people are so beholden to businesses anymore that a business declining has to be the politician's fault and not the fault of bad management.

I buy everything in bulk online so you don't need to run out for something very often.  Once or twice a year.

They are only good for prescriptions.

And again- Walmart has a pharmacy. Target has a pharmacy. Costco has a pharmacy. Wegmans does. Hell Giant does. I can go into Giant, give them my refill stuff, go grocery shopping, and grab my script on the way out. 

Long gone are the days of "Go to Walgreens, drive a half a mile down the road through traffic to go grocery shopping. Drive a half mile back and cut across traffic to grab my script." Americans want convenience and the system has given us that. Unfortunately a byproduct of that is some places becoming relics.

Exactly....and that gas station might at some point give way to the Walmart that will open another mile down the road which allows you to do all that as well without feeling like you might need to be hyper cognizant of your surroundings.

Target could've been used in my example as well. 

From my house- Walmart is a 5 minute drive. Target is a ~12 minute drive....I'll take the 5 minute drive even if Target is a nicer store in general.
