Ford posts first quarterly loss in 2 years after $800 million tariff hit

https://thehill.com/business/5431352-ford-posts-first-quarterly-loss-in-two-years-after-800-million-tariff-hit/

Ford makes their cars in America.

WHOOPS!

DETROIT, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Ford Motor (F.N), opens new tab on Wednesday projected up to $5.5 billion in losses on its electric vehicle and software operations this year, a loss similar to last year and a sign of the severe difficulties in cutting costs on battery-powered models.
The automaker forecast overall profitability for 2025, but even that was lower than in 2024. For the fourth quarter, it reported a net profit of $1.8 billion, up from a loss of $500 million in the year-ago quarter as pension-related costs weighed on results.
Ford's chief executive, Jim Farley, has been seeking to follow up a choppy 2024 with more consistent results, in a year that is already shaping up to be marred by swings in U.S. policy.
The Dearborn, Michigan, automaker is working to overcome persistent quality issues and lift its stock price which declined by 18% last year. It now faces uncertainty around U.S. President Donald Trump's threatened tariffs on Mexico and Canada. If implemented, the measures would boost the automaker's raw material costs and likely hurt sales demand.
Farley told analysts on a conference call that Ford could weather a few weeks of tariffs, but that if 25% duties on Mexico and Canada were prolonged, “it would have a huge impact on our industry, with billions of dollars of industry profits wiped out, and adverse effect on the U.S. jobs.” Farley added he believes that Trump is aiming to strengthen the auto industry, not weaken it.

I swear.   Some people are just LOOKING for something.

This was from the link the guy above me posted.   Taken straight from the article he most likely didn't read but freaked out over.

Even in cases where prices on imported items increased, it’s unclear if the moves were all or partly due to cost increases from tariffs.

You should assume they almost 100% are. Now what?

We can safely assuming price increases are at least in part due to tariffs, right?

No smart company is going to come right out and say it. They know our toddler POTUS might call them out on Truth Social and his assboys will boycott.

You voted for it.

For clarification, because you have already shown no grasp of the English language, inflation will not be fun.  Economic deterioration of the USA will not be fun.  Watching Americans suffer will not be fun.  I voted against this.

What will be fun is watching people like you who did vote for this and screamed that it wasn't happening for months squirm and have to admit you were wrong and you focked up.

I don't know..   I don't keep track o who said what when, but in no way did I think tariffs would not lead to increases.   The scale of them is in dispute.

Timmy thinks it will crush the world economy and we will all have to go back to the barter system

I take a more measured approach.

I don’t think it’s going to crush the world economy, but obviously it’s going to increase costs.

Just shut up. Nobody has written it will crush the world economy. It’s going to be bad, probably lead to a recession and stagflation. Fock your measured approach.

America’s F-35 is stealthy in combat but lights up the radar in Trump’s trade war | Fortune https://fortune.com/2025/08/08/f35-stealth-fighter-trump-trade-war-switzerland-tariff-lockheed-spain-nato/

Countries have stopped buying the f-35 as a response to Trump's tariffs.

Whoops!

Whoops!!!

Boeing Awarded F-47 Contract: In March 2025, President Donald Trump awarded Boeing a significant contract to build the U.S. Air Force's next-generation fighter jet, designated the F-47. This is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program. The initial engineering and manufacturing development contract is valued at over $20 billion, with expectations of orders totaling hundreds of billions over the program's multi-decade lifespan. The F-47 is intended to surpass the F-22 in terms of cost-effectiveness, adaptability to future threats, range, stealth capabilities, and maintenance ease.

Gutterboy pulled all his money out in February. He announced it on this site. 😆

The good news for him is he's not worth all that much.
