Nope.  Supply and Demand.

Gonna get worse now that Trump cut all solar and wind production.

From your article : “Rates surged in 2024”.  Also Trump or his policies are not mentioned. You didn’t read it again, did you? What’s the matter with you?

Slow Down.  Read.

You asked why, I said "Supply and Demand"  Never mentioned Trump.  This was announced in February.

Then I said, it's gonna get worse thanks to Trump policies which limits the supply of electricity.

Get it?

We’re just going to have to agree to disagree here. I think Trump’s unseriousness is relevant. Businesses aren’t going to invest in domestic manufacturing if they don’t feel like tariffs are part of a long term strategy. And the public isn’t going to back it if they were sold on lower prices. Congress didn’t approve tariffs and they’ll start getting skittish when midterms come up. So it all seems like a big stunt.

TDS I know.

that was your least TDS laden post. Feeling he isn't serious on certain matters or feeling like it's a big stunt are not really TDS level jabs. That is more when people feel the need to insert the word orange, or call him a realty tv personality, etc.  That stuff gets silly because he's a guy who used to have a reality show who is now a 2x POTUS, meanwhile someone like Kamala has never done anything and is about to have a book tour. So... :dunno:

I was just trying to keep the convo about the topic, which is also about trump obviously, so I never said I didn't want to talk about him... that wouldn't make much sense.

Well, that’s where I’m at with Trump and tariffs. I’m not going to congratulations him for trying a thing if it’s a stunt. HTH

cool. Im not a Trump guy, and I know you're better at reading than guttertard. As I said, I am seeing lower prices all over. So in a vacuum, he's done what he campaigned on, at least for me and my area. There was a thread not long ago where people were discussing prices of gas/beef/eggs where they lived and it seemed like the minority of people were seeing prices still be high.  I've got cheaper gas, eggs, overall grocery bills, internet and cell phone bills... my auto insurance 6 month premiums also fell this year. The place where I had been renting was nailing me with 8% increases in 2022 and 2023. My old neighbor told me this year his increase was 3%.  Pretty much the only thing that is higher for me is natural gas and electric bills but those started getting higher back in 2024 :dunno:

Regardless, my point was that no matter if you agree with tariffs or not, if prices are not lower where you live, or if someone like myself starts to see them rising again, at least we can point to why and have some hope that it's for a greater good plan where we will see the benefits down the road.  again, I am not saying you have to agree that there will be any long term benefit from tariffs... I am only saying that we have something tangible to point to where potential long term benefits have been discussed.

Contrast that to 2023, 2024. What was the rationale behind the higher prices then? I feel like I often just heard "well, Putin invaded Ukraine!"

I work in the grocery industry, other than eggs and maybe a couple other items, grocery prices are not down and many have gone up especially with tariffs.   Everything I’ve read points to car insurance going up in part due to tariffs as well, but it may depend on the state.

Not even taking into account rent which it sounds like is going to go up 3% for you, how does the increase in your natural gas & electricity compare to the decreases in everything else?

This disconnect between “Day 1 lower prices” and “actually higher prices” might explain the 20-point drop in Trump’s approval rating since he took office.

I don’t think not having day 1 lower prices are why his approval rating is down.  I’d say it’s mostly:

-Masked ICE agents kidnapping street vendors and accusing Jewish grandmothers of assault

-DOGE being a complete failure by not living up to expectations, and with most of the “savings” they did find being the result of making a bunch of people unemployed.  And then passing the BBB which erased all of that savings anyway

-Constantly changing tariff policy

-Epstein and the current evidence pointing to that he might be a pedo

The place I used to rent is raising 3% this year compared to a few 8% increases in years past (I never paid 8% because I had a working relationship with the property manager 😅 but would have otherwise.) The increase in my gas and electricity bills is nothing compared to my overall lower grocery bills (sure some things are up slightly but many products are down at the stores I visit), my auto insurance (but there could be other factors at play there like something falling off my record), cell bill, etc and especially gasoline.

Such a load of BS.  Car insurance doesn't just go down.  Cell phone bills don't just go down.  Food has not gone down by any measure. Come on with this.

Reminds me of the “I don’t personally know anyone who died of Covid, so it must be NBD” argument

I’m sure the Stephen Miller and JD Vance simps will claim deportations are bringing down car insurance rates or something though

Cell phone bill dropped (paid off my phone)

Insurance down (DUI fell off record)

Food prices down (went on a diet)

Restaurants are cheaper (only eat at Taco Bell now)

Concert tickets cheaper (saw Europe cover band)

Clothes are cheaper (shop at goodwill)

Gutterboy finally paid off his 2010 flip phone, and his DUI is off his record somehow. Would love to see the video of gutternuts having been arrested.

Tariffs are going through SCOTUS now.

If SCOTUS decides the tariffs are illegal, that could mean a return of revenue of $72B collected by the govt to importers.  How much of that $72B that were paid by consumers will go back to consumers or end up as lowered prices?  Zero.

guy glosses over me saying food prices are mostly down in my area and is using my words to sarcastically say data must be fake .  poor guy also seems to have missed where I stated car insurance going down could have been something falling off my record. Why read when you can just make stuff up to suit the post you want to type?

You think prices are going down and you call me a tard?

They fact that yo bring up insurance and cell phones bills coming down is a joke, because they are not, except in the instance where something changed like you said, so why even bring that up?  Just shows how dishonest you are.

I'll give you a chance to back up your statement.   Show me where food prices are going down OVERALL, or insurance or anything for that matter OVERALL.  It's not, so I expect some more BS or just a flat ignore.  If you can't back up your claim then you're just a BS clown.
