I was meh with Copenhagen back in my chew days.  Kodiak or Grizzly though, them's fightin' words!

My wife, also from Detroit, brings this up every time we hear that song.  Which, in 35 years, is a lot of times. :D

We are looking at installing the Pax closet system from Ikea, which I believe is a Danish company.  A Trump war with Denmark could impact supply chain, so for now, I oppose it.

IKEA is Swedish

I'm not a liberal and I think it's dumb.  I am very interested in gaining Canada and Greenland though.

I wonder why he doesn't have interest in making Mexico a state? I'm struggling to come up with a reason for why he's not considering that---what could be the difference?

IKEA was founded (1943) in Sweden and still flaunts its origins—store exteriors are decorated in the colours of the Swedish flag (blue and yellow), in-store restaurants serve Swedish food, and the company's products carry Swedish names—but its headquarters are now in the Netherlands.5 days ago

Crap, I've confused Denmark and the Netherlands.  They are all the same to me.  Trump, invade away!  🤪

The fact that Detroit is the only place in the US north of Canada is another useless factoid my wife has regaled me with.  Actually, it isn't totally useless, as it helped me answer a crossword puzzle a few days ago.  :D

Part of Windsor, Canada is actually south of Detroit.  Look on a map.

Your phrasing threw me off - many places in the US are north of Canada.

It’s only by sheer luck that Detroit is part of the United States- George Clark (older brother of the explorer) made it to the fort before the British did, just barely.

Sigh... a place where Canada is directly south of the US.  @Mike Honchoknows, it's a Detroit thing.

Because Trump said it might be necessary to use military force in his presser. If he hadn’t said it I wouldn’t have even thought it was an option. But apparently it is.

Is this all a game? Total bluster? Who the fock knows with this guy? I’ve given up trying to predict what he’s actually going to do. I get that some of you think it’s to our advantage to have an unpredictable guy in charge. I don’t.

Ok, but you still ignored the economical aspect of that question thought, right?  Even though Trump is all about economics.

Whatever we gain Denmark would lose. That doesn’t work for me.

I believe the people of Greenland should be able to determine their own sovereignty or not. Just like Puerto Rico and our other protectorates.  I thought liberals were against countries having colonies?

I’ve been to Panama and Greenland. If Premier Trump makes the call I’m going to request to be part of the Greenland liberation force. Too many bugs in the jungle. They get everywhere.

Why would Denmark lose?  If we strike an agreement with them, then the outcome would be win-win.  The only way Denmark would lose, is if we took it by force.  Trump had 4 years to do that from 2016-2020.  He's never had any inclination of looking to non-monetary means in his past.  Outside of believing in conspiracy theories, there's no reason to think Trump would look to forcefully taking over another country.

Also, what @Hardcore troubadour said.  If the people of Greenland would prefer to be a US nation, they should have a say.  If they had vote and they went 85% in favor of being a US territory, wouldn't that make Denmark slave owners by not willing to concede ownership?  It shouldn't be up to Denmark, but Greenland. If they want to stay with Denmark, then so be it. I don't fault Trump for asking.

It's not very presidential to make other countries - particularly our longtime allies - think we might take military action against other countries as part of a Putin-like land grab.

If he is kidding, this just makes him look like a clown, which is why I've been calling him Clownzo for years.

This is who he is. He's not a world leader. He's a focking clown.

Trump has never had a history, ever, as being physically aggressive.  It's always financial and business to him.  If someone was thinking he'd use military force, then they're as brainwashed as morons like you, who think he'd take that route.  When talking about clowns, you only have yourself to look at as the media and party you listen to, has turned you into one.

Everyone knew he was joking about Canada, stop getting your panties in a bunch... even Canadians (normal ones), knew he was kidding.

All of this, is a YOU problem, not a Trump problem.

Why would the POTUS joke about taking over other countries?

And then you have the nerve to blame people for not going along with the "joke"

Trump has a history of doing whatever tools he had at his disposal to acquire whatever properties he wants---including committing fraud. So to think that with a property with high business potential(mineral development) like Greenland, that could enrich him and his buddies, that he wouldn't use military is to discount his history.

Put me in the category of he should look into buying Greenland and we shouldn't have given up the Panama Canal.  Military excursions though?  That's an ass move.

So fraud, as in financial??  Thanks for proving my point.

When did he say he wanted to "take them over"?  That implies force.  He never said that.  He said he'd like to buy them.

I probably got the nerve to blame people for not being able to take a joke because they're lying in the first place.  :dunno:

HAHAHAHAHA!!! That's funny.  Guess he was poor and couldn't hire a "security firm" or do stuff like the Clinton's.  Ok, fine, so how'd 2016-2020 work out, when he did?

Are you implying that he could use a "security firm" to accomplish his business goals to acquire property but he didn't because he's not aggressive (your original point).

As to your 2nd part - who knows, he's a bat-crazy clown.  He offered to buy it 2019 and got rejected, now he's moving on to step two, floating more aggressive ideas, which includes using another tool at his disposal, military force.

I'm saying he didn't do anything physical, it was all financial.  Unlike the Clinton's... and apparently Obama.  Shame that poor guy who worked for him died.  Had to be an "accident", right?

Right, he's a bat-crazy clown because you deem him so, because he's not on your side.  I mean, you voted for Joe Biden, didn't you?  LOL
