this has nothing to do with race . Clearly it was a little language issue and by the time he understood the question it was about an airline worker on a power trip. It happens everyday. Doesn’t matter what race you are

Would have to see the initial convo when they did the exit row check.  If he’s flying coach now stands to reason he’s done it before and thus would be familiar with the exit row procedures.  His English seems pretty fine

Really the only possible explanation that doesn’t involve racism is that he knew what they were asking and refused to assist for some reason, which I find hard to believe.

Or, they asked him and didn't get a comfort level that he was understanding enough or supportive of doing the job.  I travel frequently - sat in that row 2 or 3 times this year alone, and I can assure you they take this passenger responsibility very serious.

Based on the video, he was understanding what they were saying just fine.  I don’t think the flight attendant hates Muslims.  I just think they discriminated against him because he had an accent.

Khabib is exactly the type of guy that would be well suited to assist in an emergency…

@TimHauck  Let me ask you a couple of questions, and TRY to think about this LOGICALLY.  IF the flight attendant was racist, I assume the presumption is that she didn't want anything to do with Khabib.   Do you think she's dealt with Russians or whatever ethnicity she thought he was before?  Do you think it's her SOP to discriminate against people of his ethnicity?  If so, how do you think she still has her job considering she must deal with people of that ethnicity regularly?  Lastly, she asked him to move seats.  How is that going to make her have to deal with him any less than she would have with him in an exit row? 

Look, the last thing I want to deal with if the plane goes down and is on fire is a person in the exit row who the crew has deemed unsuitable.  Contrary to popular belief, flight attendants do a lot more than just serve coffee.  They are trained to create the safest environment in the cabin in the event of an emergency.  A commercial airplane cabin is the LAST place we should be worrying about being WOKE.

What, you think an MMA fighter has some special powers or something?   Specifically, why would Khabib be better suited than, say, @jerryskids to assist in an emergency on an airplane?

Maybe they are.  But you're undermining your own argument here.  If they CONSISTENTLY remove people from the exit row if those people don't follow the book immediately and  100% then it has nothing to do with discrimination.  It has to do with their POLICIES that they BELIEVE create the safest flight.

Not saying it’s never happened, but we often see videos like these on social media, and if this was actually a policy of Frontier I’d think we’d have seen more videos of it happening.  I just did a quick search and the only other one I’m seeing is the one @HellToupee posted.  It seems the claim there is that the lady made a joke saying “I won’t help anyone I’m going to save myself.”  Which if true basically goes back to my earlier point about the only explanation for this that doesn’t involve racism is if Khabib refused

“On Jan. 11, 2025, as flight 4401 from Las Vegas to San Francisco was preparing for departure, a flight attendant initiated the customary briefing for exit row passengers. Customer Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was seated in an exit row, was asked multiple times if he was willing and able to assist in the event of an emergency. According to the flight attendant, Mr. Nurmagomedov did not respond, despite repeated attempts, which placed him in non-compliance with FAA requirements. The flight attendant informed Mr. Nurmagomedov that he could be moved to a different upgraded seat or exit the plane.

“Videos circulating on social media platforms do not capture this interaction, and instead show a subsequent interaction after a gate agent entered the plane and reiterated the option to be reseated.
