Why Replace Green Card

The EB-5 programme, created by Congress in 1992, allows foreigners to invest at least $1.05 million (or $800,000 in economically distressed areas) in US projects to gain a green card. While the programme has helped finance developments - including ones linked to Trump's family - it has also faced criticism for being misused.

I have some reservations about this.  My experience with the government is that they can always fock up the easiest thing. So I will wait to see what happens here.....

That being said, I infer there will be some automatic opposition to this from Democrats, who would oppose the cure for cancer if Trump found it...... so I actually am eager to hear what they try to do here.  Its usually pretty entertaining.

I think there is merit to this assertion.   And to be fair we have observed Republicans migrate over toward the Democrat side of thinking, and vice versa.  So there is perhaps an ongoing realignment with people relocating to teams where they better fit.

That being said, with Trump we have him regurgitating Democrat ideas from the past, but now these people pretend those ideas are somehow bad.....is it because Trump is saying them?

I hope on this point you are incorrect.....and politicians are not behaving like middle school kids at the lunch table, but are actually standing firm on their values..... I cannot discount what you are posting here, but I really hope they are better than this.

I think this is all a missed opportunity.   If they really want to position for something positive in the mid terms, which is what they should be doing, they should instead collaborate with Trump on the areas where they at least partially agree.

They did not.  They did have a similar policy/plan in place.   This is not something Trump created, he just took when they put in place and is trying to make it a revenue generator.

I like the idea in principle, but I am apprehensive about the government handling this.....the government suck at pretty much everything it does.... so I am going to wait and see just what happens here.

There is no reason to misrepresent what I said.  

Trumps gold card thing  will replace the existing EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program established in 1990 which granted green cards to foreign investors who invested a minimum of $1.05 million in U.S. businesses and created or preserved at least 10 full-time jobs. 

The new gold card program requires a $5 million investment from wealthy foreigners, providing them with permanent residency and a pathway to U.S. citizenship. Unlike the EB-5 program, the gold card initiative eliminates the job creation requirement, focusing instead on attracting affluent individuals to boost economic growth and reduce the national debt. 

So again....I will restate mt original point.....in the hopes that your reading comprehension is up to the task....

It was....only the amount is really different.  Trump did not create that plan, he pulled it up and changed it a little....this is not unknown.  This thing has been around for decades.  Trump cannot take credit for it......
