Boston's Mayor Wu offers condolences to family of suspect shot after allegedly trying to stab people

Recommended Posts

Go liberals. Wu-hoo.

Wu did not explicitly express sympathy for those nearly stabbed by attacker

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu raised eyebrows over the weekend after she expressed condolences to the family of a knife-wielding suspect who was shot and killed by an off-duty officer after he allegedly tried to stab two people on Saturday night.

The suspect, whose identity was not released by police, brandished a knife near a Chick-fil-A on Boylston Street, a busy part of the Massachusetts capital. He was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer who saw him targeting the two victims, police said.

During a Saturday night press conference, Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox said that the officer identified himself to the suspect and asked him to drop his weapon.

"The individual was trying to stab the two individuals in the store, and the off-duty officer identified himself as a police officer, instructing them to drop the weapon, at which point the individual did not comply," Cox explained. "The officer discharged his weapon to stop the threat, and the individual was struck. The armed individual was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead."

"My condolences, and all of our thoughts, are with the family of the individual whose life has been lost," Wu said.

"My condolences" is a way to express sympathy and sorrow to someone who is grieving. It's often used when someone has lost a loved one.

Offering condolences to the family of someone who has been killed would seem the "Christian" thing to do.

And why should he offer consolences to people who weren't injured?

You should do your homework before you make a fool of yourself not knowing what you are talking about. 😉

Look up "condolences' to see if I know what I am talking about or not.

Fun Fact: They weren't injured, they were just "nearly stabbed" - and, yes, that certainly would be traumatizing 😨 but they didn't lose anything that anyone should give condolences about.

I glanced at it and thought Michelle was Michael. That had to do with the pronoun I used.

If one misreads "Michelle" as "Michael" and refers to a person's gender based on that, it is hardly a "nut job opinion"

So some of you have a problem with a local, state, govt. elected official offering condolences to a family that lost their son, brother, or dad due to govt law enforcement taking said son, brother, or dad's life? What, do you hold their family responsible too? or what's your problem?

Hey, they had a focking murderous maniac under their care and didn't do anything about it. Screw them.

Bizarre to issue a public statement if nothing is to be apologized for.  You can feel empathy for the family but not be sorry that the officer acted to save the lives of innocent citizens.  I think making a public statement such as the mayor did comes pretty close to a tacit apology for the lethal use of force, which appears warranted in this case.

Offering condolences is not an apology. Look up the word if you don't know.

I understand the difference.  I don't understand why it's necessary.  How many other Boston residents died that day whether they were wielding a knife or not and did the mayor offer her condolences as well?  If she didn't, why does this case merit it and the others not?

Again, I understand your general meaning.  But the fact she came out and made this statement infers some level of need, if not responsibility from the city.  To a lot of people who hear it, they hear that something was done wrong.  You're correct in by the definition that it doesn't, but putting the statement out at all infers something to many who will see/hear it.

Everything. That lady even put him first in her statement. That, is intentional. And it's meaningful. Plus, Wu has been at the center of this same type of crap before.

She didn’t just offer condolences.  She said, “all of our thoughts are with family of the individual whose life has been lost.”

I would have hoped that some of her thoughts would have also been reserved for the police officer who had to make the tragic decision to end a human life.

Not only is he misreading things, based on his far-left wokeness pretzel logic he's actually misgendering someone by assuming their name matches their gender!!!  Such violence shall not be tolerated according the rules he follows!!!!

I like how she brags about how safe Boston is. Now ask her about the demographics.
