Reopening Alcatraz as a Federal Prison

Recommended Posts

I heard Trump is considering this.  I find it comical.  It was built with poor quality concrete.  It has been closed and rusting for 60 years after being occuopied by AIM and literally bombed to end that occupation.  It is now a federal park and a tourist attraction.  It is unfit as a prison and the lawsuits of turning the park into a current prison would be horrendous.  To make it a going prison concern agqain would mean total demolition down to the bedrock and construction of a brand new facility.  I don't see that happening.

maybe trump should look to Catalina.  More space for a bigger facility.  Or maybe one or several of the Aleutian islands.  Imagine trying to escape into those seas.

He should do it out on the Farallons. He wouldn't even need to build a prison. Just drop them off and leave. The Great Whites out there can take care of any escapees.

Top 20 dumbest ideas from yam head. An impressive feat.

The night time tour of Alcatraz is very cool however. Highly recommended.

The city makes a lot of money from those tours. It will never happen.

But one of the few things that I actually like about Trump is his sense of nostalgia.

They could employ the inmates as tour guides.

In an homage to AIM and to the 60's in general I could see a bunch of aging baby boomer hippies trying to occupy the island in defiance of Trump, were his rambling and fantasy ever progress top something more than a deliberately inflamatory talking point for the day.  Frankly I don't think aging baby boomers would last more than a week as I am pretty sure Door Dash does not deliver to the island.

I think this is a terrible idea since Sean Connery is no longer with us in case something goes terribly wrong there. I'm not comfortable relying on Nic Cage to be able to handle things on his own.

But having seen the route back in, and having seen the timing necessary to pass the dangers could not any competent operator get us in there.  I mean we have the blueprint. We don't need Stanley Goodspeed unless there are chemical weapons on the island.

If you are talking about the cogs and fire, that scene made no friggin sense. Connery and Seals are reversing the trip he took when he escaped Alcatraz. So when they get there, Connery would have been would have come from the other room to where the seals were that leads to the exit he used..  But there was a door from that room to the last room.  Why the fock would Connery memorize the timing of those cogs when he could have just walked through a damn door. That was Michael Bay illogic on dialed up to 11.

If he wants to repurpose historically notorious prisons currently owned by the Federal government perhaps he should consider Andersonville.

Remember when Obama and Biden promised to close Guantanamo? They didn’t.

Like many of Donald’s random tweets, this won’t happen. Will be added to the list of strange things he says. He’s such a card!

We still have Clint Eastwood though. He may be 94, but somehow I think he could find a way to break out of there.

Trump's fascination with Alcatraz is probably predicated on the fact that during his lifetime it was still open.  It made an impression on his young mind and he assumes that impression resides in the minds of others as a place to be avoided.  The thing is, for those under 60 it bears no such symbolism, and for illegals, certainly not.  Me. My impressions are shaped by having visited the tourist attraction, having watched the Clint Eastwood movie decades ago, and of course the scene from the movie So I Married and Ax Murderer featuring Phil Hartman as the prison guard/tour guide.

We could turn it into the US version of CECOT.  I'm pretty sure that was it's Civil War equivalent for conditions.

Andersonville, Manzanar, Wounded Knee…there are all kinds of spots in our history we can use if spreading terror is the desired goal…how about the Charleston Slave Markets?

Who says liberals don't still support the slavery they ran in the 1800s?

It’s fun making light of the stupid shet he says…like he’s going to reopen Alcatraz or turn Gaza into a resort.

Well, Tim guy pays 35 cents and hour for illegals to do it now, but that's putting him in the red. He needs a better solution to live and slavery is the perfect fit for him and liberal cohorts.

Exactly. Have a laugh. Chill out liberals.  How much rage do they have in the tank?

Those things are just head scratching as to how is he saying this, these are things a crazy person says.

They being said there are important topics that he does comment on, and more importantly takes action. People should be upset about by this.

My reaction is usually, “That was retarded.”

Unlike the libs, I don’t think he’s Hitler. Just a reality TV grifter and major attention hore.

Fair point. If liberals had an outrage limit.

He does it on purpose.  Because he knows the overreaction it will generate.   Liberals that overreact like Tim does helps keeps exposing how silly they are. The stupidity exists on BOF SIDEZ
