Moody's has had the US rated AAA since the 1920s. All of a sudden in 2025, they decide it's time to lower the rating ?

Our nations representatives have been fiscally irresponsible for 4 decades + and these focking clowns are just noticing it now ?

C.mon man!

They were the last one.  Fitch downgraded US in 2023 and s&p in 2011.

Right. Because of that, I give Fitch and standard and pours more credibility than Moody's.

It’s not a long term problem. Once Trump is replaced with a Democrat in 2028 it will go right back up.
We’re in for a rough 4 years though…

"Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times."

Obama created hard times. Those times gave us Trump. Trump created good times. Those times gave us Biden. Now here we are.

Buckle up, Spanky. Strong men are about to bring us back to good times!

Did any of you actually click on the link and read the article?  No?  I didn't think so.  Because it doesn't focking work.   Rusty posted a link that just goes back to this thread and not to an actual story on the topic.  So not one of you took the time to actually learn WHY it was downgraded and just wanted to make it in to a partisan witch hunt again like trollbot Rusty.   If you actually went out and read an article on this story, you'd find Moody's statement on it:

Quote

This one-notch downgrade on our 21-notch rating scale reflects the increase over more than a decade in government debt and interest payment ratios to levels that are significantly higher than similarly rated sovereigns

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/16/moodys-downgrades-united-states-credit-rating-on-increase-in-government-debt.html

So it wasn't anything Trump did.  This is based on a cumulative failure to address our debt over more than a 10 year period.  At least Trump is talking about it and trying to get rid of waste with DOGE.  And he's only been in office 4 months.  FFS.

FAGAs will just stick their heads in the sand to ignore the bad things and whine about Biden, Harris and trannies some more while this country goes down the chitter.

Oh let's just pretend that Trump didn't start a trade war, send GDP negative, fire IRS agents costing us hundreds of millions, propose a budget adding $4T more in debt.  Trump did nothing

Thank you. It's been growing at an unsustainable rate for 4 decades. And don't forget this doesn't include 175 trillion in current & future unfunded liabilities for SS & Medicare.

I've been harping on this issue for at least 20 years.  It's totally foreseeable but politicians don't ever want to take anything away and then they just give money away like candy to special groups.  It's disgusting.  And I blame ALL of them.

Something had to be done about Medicaid. Everyone knows this. But the left would rather point fingers if anyone tries.

Just yesterday you celebrated Trump spending money on infrastructure. You posted it and called it “winning.” Hypocrite. Liar.

He awarded contracts that were in bills passed by Congress that Biden had been sitting on.  The government can't simply stop spending.  FFS you're stooping to Hackboy levels trying for a gotcha.

Infrastructure is one that could've been taken care of easily, but as is often the case, neither side would let it happen.

The federal gasoline tax is something like 18.6 cents & hasn't moved from that figure since 1993. Every time the subject of raising it came up, the vast majority on both sides of the aisle were against it. Republicans said no new taxes & democrats said it would be a regressive tax on the poor. So nothing was done. Anytime after 93 they could've agreed to a hike of a nickel every six years and infrastructure would've been taken care of.

We don't need to raise that tax.  As the price of gas rises, or the number of cars rises, the gas tax revenue will naturally rise as well.  We don't have a revenue problem.  We have a spending problem.

I think the tax is per gallon. So it won’t rise if the price rises.

Hey I have no problem with what Trump did: I approve 100%. But YOU don’t get to call it “winning” and then at the same time pat yourself on the back for 20 years of complaining about spending. Liar. Hypocrite.

Of course. Although when Biden proposed it every Republican voted against, and complained about overspending. But I’m sure you approved of it though right?

Of course I do.  I'm not against spending, especially on things that are needed.  I'm against excessive spending on things we don't need and I'm against handouts.

Yeah. What they called infrastructure really wasn’t. No one protested fixing the roads. Try your simple Jack shite elsewhere.

Which is hilarious, because the story is there, and I posted the link with my phone, and something was buggered up with it, but then I left it the way it was to see how many FAGA idiots would comment without actually clicking the link and trying to educate themselves before weighing in, so I've further underscored my point about FAGA ignorance.

They just won't read up on anything, but at least you do, so kudos to you.

I agree we have a spending problem, but the more cars, the sooner the roads need to be repaired. When I suggested they automatically raise it a nickel per gallon every 5 years, I'd only agree to that if there was an ironclad guarantee that it was going to be spent on infrastructure and nothing else.

Thanks to the troubadour for pointing out that the 18.6 cents is per gallon.
