Supreme Court Gives Win To Majority Group Claims Of Discrimination

Recommended Posts

Turns out you cannot discriminate against straight and white people too. Who would have guessed? How focked up is it that this had to go to the supreme court JUST to be able to file the lawsuit. Till now. If you were discriminated against as a straight white there was no legal recourse because no you were not. You are straight and white so you could NOT have been discriminated against.

These are the issue this court continues to get right. I’m assume Potato and can’t define a woman were on the wrong side?

No, remarkably, it was unanimous.  Maybe Roberts convinced them to take the right side for once?

Weird, the libs have been telling us forever that the rule about only whites could be racist was a myth.

For any normal person here that is curious about what this case is that has the Magaverse s'ing each other's d's...

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/05/us/politics/supreme-court-reverse-discrimination.html

tl;dr: Woman sued for workplace discrimination after being passed over on promotions that went to some gays, she sued and she lost, because she was told that being in a majority group aka white requires her to provide a heightened burden of proof than a black or gay person.  That's focked up.  The Supreme Court correctly ruled that the burden of proof should be equal regardless of your color, sex or race.

Also Biden supported her.  This seems like a consensus agreement among normal people.

I would assume now that she can sue again and not have to face that heightened burden of proof.

You are burying the lead, the shackles of oppression have finally been lifted from whites. Hallelujah - we have climbed the mountain, we have a seat at the table!

I no longer need to have the talk with my son about how to act respectful around gay, black women.  Free at last!

Doesn't seem like much of a win for white folks supposedly being discriminated against.

You're crazy.  Since this ruling came down I've already got promoted twice.  I might be on the board of directors by lunch.

Meh.....not sure what to make of this yet.

I do appreciate the standing created that at least declares behaviors on the part of minorities CAN be racist.  I think that is important.

That's not what it says, as the lower court never said a minority cannot be racist.

Not literally, but this decision takes us down that road.  The effort to block it was not successful, that is big IMHO.....when society has created a false notion that minorities cannot be racist....these intermediate victories matter.....maybe we can unwind the perverse notion that allowing minorities to be racist is OK

No, "society" has not created a false notion that minorities can't be racist, lol. 😁

Yes, a couple folks who made a stupid public statement to that effect, but it never was a adopted as a popular meme by Democrats and those on the left (despite MAGA/GOP claims to the contrary).

Yes....it has....and THAT is the exact mentality that has been fostered.   That mentality only allow vile people to be protected.   You can pretend as you see fit, but we are not obligated to partake in your fantasy.

No, it hasn't.

The claim that "Minorites can't be racist" is an absurd statement. No one believes that outside a few fringe people on the left. The only ones repeating this meme are the MAGA folks and Republicans falsly claiming it is a popular belief among Democrats/liberals (but never can provide a link or any proof to back it up).

RLLD and his ilk need to create boogeymen for them to rail against.  Classic trait of the weak.

YES.....It....HAS....

Deny it all you want,  the term racist was amended to include the delimiter of "power"....and what they have done is assert that the AA community can behave as racist as they please, because they dont have "power"....which is of course absurd.   Racism is racism.....and today the AA is the most racist group out there.

I don't know where in the world you come up with this stuff from.

Any proof that the term racist was officially amended to include the delimter of "power" (whatever the hell that means).

And I agree 100% that racism is racism and I have stated it is nonsense to say that Blacks can't be racist (which Democrats and members of Congress have not been saying).

Defining Racism Beyond its Dictionary Meaning: A System of Power, Privilege, and Oppression

CRT

Oxford Academic

Defined

Now, do you require specific examples from politicians, media and/or academmia?

4 fringe sources doesn't qualify as "definition officially changed"  In fact one your sources says "Beyond Dictionary Meaning"

Anyone can find fringe opinions on anything.

The Oxford one is an article saying that the definition would have to be revised to mean what RLLD claims.

Quote

An increasingly common view is that ‘racism’ can be defined as prejudice plus power. However, this view is ambiguous between two interpretations. The first proposes a descriptive definition, claiming that a prejudice plus power account of ‘racism’ best accounts for our ordinary usage of the term. The second proposes a revisionary definition, claiming that we should adopt a new account of ‘racism’ because doing so will bring pragmatic benefit. In this paper, I argue that the prejudice plus power view is unsatisfying on either interpretation.

🤣

If you are being forthright, it would not matter how many I provide, it would not matter from what source....you will never accept the truth, and I get that.  Its a liberal thing.

Regardless, this recent stance by SCOTUS has value, and should be a warning to institutions to not allow this perverse ideology to continue. And that is at least a start. I think we likely have to win some cases over time to bring the point home, but it is what it is.
