Fraud in Minnesota

When Collin asked Engen about the extent of fraud in Minnesota, Engen did not mince words.

“It would make the mafia blush. It’s that bad. Every single day there’s a new shady deal.”

Engen explained that “our elites here in Minnesota have not only sat on their hands, but they really incentivized this culture. They’ve incentivized the fraud and they’ve done nothing about it. Only now, when it’s a major political issue, it presents an electoral risk for them.”

A sad statement when it comes to Minnesota politics. I have to celebrate a white Jewish liberal winning the Minneapolis mayors race, because the alternative was a communist somali pirate.

Yea I never thought I would ever be happy voting for Jacob Frey.  But here we are.

 

I will say, not because of him, but the city is in a much better place than 5 years ago.  Still have lots of work to do to get rid of the crazies on the City Council.  

If somehow we can make inroads in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood and get rid if the Somali gangs and maybe finally do something about North Minneapolis, we might just have a great city.

My son lives across the street from Huntington Bank Stadium, I tell him to keep his head on a swivel and not stay out too late.  Dinky town has turned into a shiothole also.

I haven't lived in MPLS for over 20 years, but visit regularly. I know Cedar-Riverside has a reputation, but I used to hang out at Palmer's Bar with some regularity before it closed a couple months ago, and the Triple Rock before that. The Somali population there is huge, but I never experienced any issues.

And what part of North MPLS are you talking about? I hang out in NE near Grumpy's and Mayslack's pretty often and love that area. Plenty of late night stumbling about over the years, and no problems.

That's sad to hear. Lived near Dinkytown (Cuomo and 14th) for years and loved it. But I was young then. Only bad stuff I really saw there was after the Gophers won the hockey titles in 2002/03 and some dipshits rioted and burned crap.

North Of 55, West of the river.  Near North, Canden neighborhoods.  That whole subsection of Minneapolis has been an issue for decades....mostly because of the Red-Lining that was done post WWII.

As For Cedar-Riverside, right near the Crack-Stacks it might not be terrible.  But just on the south side of 94 in the Midtown-Philips neighborhood, it is a no-go.  And it is spilling west into Uptown.

Thanks. I had to look up where the bolded was, couldn't remember. That makes sense. Going back 30 years, I lived at Minnehaha and 38th, which even at that time wasn't a great neighborhood, but despite the c-store across the street being robbed multiple times, I never ran into any trouble. But yeah, even in the mid-90s we avoided that section of So. Mpls. Right in that neighborhood, maybe west, closer to Blaisdell, was the only time I've ever had a gun pulled on me. That's probably too dramatic; I was riding shotgun in a car that turned a corner and the guy standing on his lawn 20 feet in front of us leveled a double barrel 12 gauge at the windshield. We left quickly.

I'll say this, as a former Walz voter: dude is running a sinking ship. The lack of fiscal accountability is staggering. I think he's toast, deservedly. I definitely won't be voting for him again.
