Federal reserve reno project

Recommended Posts

I am linking the NYT article, because they are framing this as a gotcha on Trump. Holy hell can we get some common sense here?

Trump added the previous building because they had already spent $400M rennovating 5 years ago. If you add in the Biden era rennovations, it comes to a grand total of $3.1 BILLION DOLLARS! WTF! Of course  it's over budget. The fed is supposed to be separate from the government. It's private. Yet they are using tax dollars to spend way more than they should renovating.

The government needs to be dismantled, and rebooted.

So it cost them 3.1 billion to build 3 buildings.  That doesn't appear to be in dispute.  Gutter thinks that's okay.

..."reno" was an abbreviation for renovation. It has nothing to do with Reno. Show yourself out.

This is a story because fockstick Trump wants to lower interest rates at all costs.. Powell led the country through what was expected to be a recession by everyone, he’s done a great job.

Trump could give a shet about government spending.

Libtards think working class needs to pay higher interest rates.  That’s an amazing take

Rates would be lowered if not for your tariffs.

I make more than minimum wage but that's irrelevant.  J Powell has said as much.

Why do you think the Fed kept interest rates high?

Paywall.  $3.1 billion vs what budget?

Before the viral convo with Powell & Trump, multiple media articles cited an originally approved plan from 2019 of $1.9 billion for 2 buildings which is now at $2.5 billion, a ~30% increase. That’s probably in line with what the increases in construction costs were post-Covid, so unless the budget only increased in the past couple years (not totally clear), then that increase makes sense. But Trump said $3.1 billion in the video which is why Powell corrected him.    Yes, @nobody, $3 billion for 3 buildings is a lot, but probably at least $2.5 billion of that was approved during Trump1.

The Federal Reserve. Go ahead and explain it, short and sweet. We’ll go from there.

Why is govt money manipulation ok with you?

Not the question I asked (you said the “libitards”wanted to keep poor people paying higher interest rates) why do you think interest rates were kept high?

To answer your question yes I’m ok with the government having a say in fiscal policy, the Fed being as independent as possible works for me. Powell in particular has done a good job IMO.

Interest rates are kept high to prevent people from getting loans and buying houses. That thought process allegedly helps keep inflation from rising.

printing billions during covid messed that all up

Perfect. Inflation stabilized and we avoided the recession that everyone was predicting so far coming out of an unpredicted global catastrophe.

I’d give the Fed and Powell some credit here.

Not sure what the tariff comment is referencing.

Interest rates were/ are being kept high out of necessity and now caution. Played a big role in avoiding (so far 🤞) a recession.

The tariff comment was meant for me in that I stated correctly  that interest rates are not going down because of the tariffs. What he doesn't understand is that terrorists are inflationary. Pretty much all economists agree. J Powell has even come out and confirmed that.

Primary responsibility of the Fed is to control inflation. Not to make housing affordable for people.
