Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle aren’t Nazis, but…

I didn’t say I would like it.  And I’d call Musk a hypocrite since he also said x would be “politically neutral.”  But he’d be free to do it.  I can’t remember exactly what happened but there were similar discussions on here when something happened to a lefty on Twitter after Musk took over and posters here said things like “ha now how do you like it libs!” And I pointed out the hypocrisy because they were basically acknowledging that there was still a bias, but now it went the other way.

Oh Ok...I misunderstood you saying yes to whether you'd be Ok with it.   I assumed that means, well that you are OK with it.   Silly me

I said they can do it.

He literally asked if it's ok with you and you said yes.

I guess his definition of being oK with something differs than mine.   Course Tim is a little out there, so I guess that shouldn't surprise me

Actually that part wasn’t really a question.  I answered the only part of the post that had a question mark.

17k likes is a decent amount.  Not every person in the world is on twitter.  Not every person in the world saw the post.  Not every person in the world that saw the post and potentially think nazis are awesome would be compelled to hit a like button.

So all the dismissiveness related to the percentage of the world 17k is is misplaced.

I hate social media.  It's poison.  For all the good things the Internet brings, one of the worst things it does is give dumb people, grifters, bigots, wokies, and yes even racists a giant megaphone.

This is an example of that.  Not sure why people feel compelled to deflect and defend.

as I think someone else already pointed out, 17k likes are not specifically because they support nazis. FFT has an entire thread about how this girl proves it impossible to be gay. Guys are going to hit a like button just because it's her.

I know the x post from the OP can’t be shown now, but it wasn’t about Seeeney.

Quote

Because liberals have lost their minds over it, accusing both American Eagle and Sweeney of sending a racist message. Some have outright called the ads “Nazi propaganda” and an example of “White supremacy.”

It’s a ridiculous overreaction to an advertisement featuring a successful, attractive celebrity. And it’s the latest example of how the left refuses to let go of their woke agenda and identity politics, which were soundly rejected in the 2024 election.

Sure, and no one is forced to pay her.  Like Elon said from the beginning, he wanted x to have “freedom of speech, not freedom of reach.”  The girl in the OP had a verified account.   That means 1) her posts get boosted by the algorithm, and 2) she is eligible to be paid for them.

It wouldn’t violate anyone’s freedom of speech if Nazi’s (or anyone x decided for that matter) couldn’t have verified accounts.

Also @Strike this was the post that seemed to start @supermike80’s tangent.  He was trying to make it about the first amendment, and I was simply stating that taking away her (or anyone’s) verified status wouldn’t violate the first amendment.  Nothing about whether or not I was “ok with it.”

Yes.  And like I said, I realize you probably can’t see the x post from the OP anymore but it was not about Sweeney, so I’ll excuse your initial post about her, and also the second if you made that one before seeing my first reply to you.

The thread title and first sentence were saying that Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle are NOT Nazis, but that it seems like more people are becoming more comfortable sharing that they are one.  The x post from the OP was an example of a woman who makes repeated Nazi comments.

I guess your thread title is just more fishing, which you admitted you do in our last conversation?  Because even if I could read the X post, I would tell you your thread title makes it seem like we can discuss anything and everything having to do with sweeny, AE and supposed nazi overtones.

If the X post was not about Sweeney, then your thread title probably shouldn't have been about sweeney either, unless like I said you are baiting.

Wrong, they are nazis. As are most of us. We are also racist.

Keep telling everyone!

By “baiting,” do you mean trying to get people to open the thread?  If so, you got me.  Yes I want people to open the thread I started.  My point in bringing up Sweeney was, again, agreeing that neither she nor American Eagle are Nazis. So I agree that any outrage against that ad (which wasn’t a common leftist opinion, but yes some were saying it) is misplaced.  And it should instead be directed at the real Nazis out there, who seem to be getting more open with it.

Edit: Of course you are free to post whatever you want in whatever thread you want, but since there is already a specific thread where there is specific discussion about Sweeney, your link would probably be better served in there.

You're saying the X post in your OP has nothing to do with Sydney Sweeney or American Eagle or that entire narrative? Then there is no reason for your thread title to be that. HTH.

Anyone reading your thread title would assume the topic being discussed has at least something to do with Sweeney and AE. And just so you know, which I know you already do, the thread title comes off in a sarcastic manner.

If you can't get people interested in discussing a topic without using a different topic to bait them... do better? :dunno:

And if I made the thread title something like

”Nazis are getting more comfortable showing their faces these days”

…you’d probably say I was race baiting or something

He gets confused.   His feelings are driving his thoughts and when he get's pushed on them, he gets twisted around.

Like saying he is OK with all democrats not being allowed to have verified status on twitter, but republicans being allowed to do so.  Then 5 seconds later, he says he wouldn't like it..

Feelings drive irresponsible and shoot from the hip thinking.   Not unusual.

that would entirely depend on your intention but at least the people entering your thread wouldn't think the topic was at least partially about something you don't seem to want to discuss, going as far as to tell me I'm posting in the wrong thread 😆
