“Used to communicate truth in a figurative way” = not true.  FFS

That's one biased way of interpreting that statement.

Weird that the people arguing against it won’t even vote

Your pole is flawed, both answers are true, no option for that....and there's not Rat's Ass option.

Nice straw man.

You said it was a "lie".  That's incorrect.  A lie is knowing what is true, yet saying the opposite. That's where I said you were wrong and told you what hyperbole was.

Take the "L" and walk away.  You don't even have to admit it, just walk away.

And lies are for the purpose of deception, the opposite of hyperbole which purpose is to amplify the truth. Words have meaning, words have purpose.  Simpletons on the spectrum often struggle with that.

Agree.  Good thing I never said it was a lie.

Where is @Strike to whine about @TBayXXXVII using quotation marks to claim I said something I never did?

This has potential for thread of the year if we play our cards right.

Do you have an opinion on the question

To be honest, I’m kinda intrigued that this question seems to be answered a certain way primarily by conservatives.  I actually posted this same thing on a different forum I  frequent, with no indication of my answer, and the first reply was a conservative who asked ChatGPT if Democrats and Republicans would have different answers to it (even though I made no mention of politics in my OP).

Maybe you should ask CluckGPT.

So you disagree with @TBayXXXVII also, got it.  Yet you’ve only accused me of bias, weird.

Yep, this thread is a great time waster, isn't that why you started it?

I never disagreed with Tbay.  I don't see any statements in this thread by Tbay, or anyone else, that hyperboles are only true, only that you are saying that they are not true.

My opinion is posted above, so if you say I disagree, then I disagree with both of you.

Your bias is because you take a sentence out of context that supports your viewpoint instead of using all the information.  I don't see anyone else doing that.

I never said they contain “no” truth.  A statement can have some truth in it, but if it contains a portion that is not true, then the overall statement can not be considered true.  So you’re wrong.

Speaking of @TBayXXXVII’s statements and people taking things out of context, worth noting again that he claimed I called hyperboles “lies” (even used quotation marks, which @Strike has yelled at me multiple times in the past for), which I never did.

Aren’t you the guy that recently bumped a post from 18 years ago?  lol.

Oh, and “no” currently pitching a shutout over there too.  And I would say the political makeup over there is similar to here (~70% conservative, ~15% liberal, ~15% centrist)
