Trump to deploy National Guard to Memphis over crime rate

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever been to Memphis? It's a disgusting violent Liberal Cesspool. What took so long?

Memphis has the highest violent crime rate of any American city with a population of 100,000 residents or more, according to an Axios analysis of 2024 FBI statistics.

  • The latest numbers show Memphis had a violent crime rate of 2,501.3 per 100,000 residents last year — nearly seven times the national average.
  • An Axios analysis found that Memphis also had the country's fourth-highest homicide rate of 40.6 per 100,000 residents — six times the national average.

Zoom in: Memphis Mayor Paul Young, a Democrat who ran for office on a tough-on-crime platform, told ABC24-TV in Memphis that Trump and GOP Gov. Bill Lee told him about a possible National Guard deployment.

  • "We are actively discussing the next phase of our strategy to accelerate the positive momentum that's already underway, and nothing is off the table," Lee told the station.
  • Tennessee Republicans — including Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Reps. Andy Ogles and Diana Harshbarger — have called for deploying the National Guard to Memphis and Nashville.
  • "It is important for the long-term success in Memphis to have additional and permanent federal law enforcement officers and agents who can work in conjunction with state and local officials," Rep. David Kustoff (R-Tenn.), who represents part of Memphis, told Axios.
  • "President Trump has stepped in to restore law and order in blue cities that refuse to protect their own citizens," Blackburn said in a statement.

Just to preface - the national guard is in my city, has been for a while & it’s come here before for a number of reasons including high crime. In fact the NG was here when we had a terrorist attack in the Quarter.

What confounds me is if the TN governor (presumably GOP) thinks Memphis PD needs help (I’ve spent time there, it is indeed dangerous) then he could have just sent the NG himself. Totally bizarre.

Memphis is pretty rough. I've been through there quite a few times. You better carry when you do.

It’s amazing how much violence has followed trump into the Oval Office. Shame.

The oval office is probably pretty safe. It's the Liberal Run cesspools that you have to worry about

As President Trump and Governor Lee weigh sending national guard troops to Memphis, I want to go on record -  this is both unnecessary and wasteful. The truth is clear: crime in Memphis is already trending down, thanks to the hard work of our local law enforcement officers, community leaders, and neighborhoods who are stepping up to make our city safer.

Bringing in federal troops doesn’t solve the root causes of crime. It doesn’t put food on the table, create good-paying jobs, expand mental health services, or give kids safe places to learn and grow. What it does do is divert taxpayer dollars into a show of force that is out of step with the real needs of Tennesseans.

This is fine, but not a long-term solution. I'd rather find a way to remove the bleeding heart judges who offer a revolving door for career criminals in Memphis & many other major cities throughout the US.

From the Twitters, comment from a Memphis resident:

Can't wait for the national guard to amble around Memphis, driving down the local economy and discouraging people from going out, all while doing nothing to make the city safer in any meaningful way.

Trump said today when they did this in D.C. they arrested 1600 criminals in 12 days. Today has been more than 15 days since the day they began and D.C. is a safe city now. People living their comment about how they are going out again, going to restaurants, and Trump also said new restaurants will be opening soon there.

Well, forget it guys. Grizzzlam on Twitter thinks it's a bad idea so we'd better just leave Memphis as it is.

Yeah, but many if not most of those "criminals" arrested were for immigration offenses, not committing violent crimes like murder, assault, rape, etc.

Memphis is likely the most dangerous city in America.

I don't necessarily like the use of NG to do it,  but I applaud the effort to clean up the fukin country.

Memphis is violent because it’s a majority black not because it leans left.

Well, blacks typically are leftists.

Why do liberals keep posting other libtard comments from other chat sites and think that means something significant towards the subject at hand?

Squissy @squistion, is a Crossdressing Tranny BOT that can't think for they/them, it's self.

They/them relies on other people to tell them what to think and what to say. This goes for all extremist Pedocrats
