Dems won two statewide seats, dethroning two incumbent Republicans. It’s the Dems’ first statewide win since 2007. Rep. Margie Greene said it merits being taken very seriously.

She's a traitor to MAGA and has no clue what she's talking about.

Talking about putting a postive spin on things. 😁

GOP Rep. Lisa McClain says the GOP lost badly because everyone is happy. "Voter turnout from Republicans was not high. Not high at all. But I think part of that reason is because Republicans, for the most part, are happy with what’s happening."

Look all of this is important (what happened Tuesday)  even though the MAGa folks will deny it. But ultimately it won’t change the facts which are these: unless prices somehow come way down over the next year, Democrats are going to win big time next November. If prices come way down, the GOP has a shot to hold the House. Not a great shot but a shot.

Everybody knows this on both sides. It’s why Republicans are starting to suggest, softly, to Trump that he needs to cool it on tariffs and what ICE is doing (the two biggest drivers of our current inflation and, in terms of ICE, the main reason why Latinos are now voting Democrat as seen on Tuesday). But they won’t say it loudly (except maybe Greene who doesn’t care) because they’re terrified of the MAGA base, especially about the ICE part. That’s why Republicans are probably screwed.

I posted this in another thread, but it's a good response to Tim's post.

The Dem victory laps are premature. All the self congratulating will simply make the Don even more vulnerable to his worst impulses. More emergency declarations, more troops in cities, more attempts for the federal government to exert control over local and state elections. If anything, the results this week have only affirmed the need for MAGA to act fast in turning voting on its head before midterms.

It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I agree in part. Trump will be inclined to do this but I think Republicans will talk him out of a lot of it. Not because they’re in any way opposed but because they’re terrified of public opinion. Trump doesn’t care about polls, but they do.

But then how would people be able to look at FBGs to source threads from 10-20 years ago to make made up points about how awful he is?

Think of @Strike! What would he do with his time?

Prices are part of it but not the whole story. Things are chaotic with Trump. Troops in the street. The crazy pronouncements. But one thing that may have been an unexpected wild card is that the ICE / mass deportations program (or should I say pogrom) might not be going like they thought. I think Americans are genuinely disgusted by the scenes & stories of separated families, crying children, tear gas, people dragged from cars, doors kicked down, Americans detained with no charges & no information to relatives. This is basic family stuff.

Democrats' 2025 election wins go far beyond the big races:

In Pennsylvania, Democrats swept the top "row offices" in Bucks County, electing the county's first-ever Democratic district attorney and defeating an incumbent Republican sheriff.

Democrats notched commanding victories in county executive races in Erie, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

At the state legislative level, Mississippi Democrats have broken a GOP supermajority in the state Senate after flipping two seats in that chamber plus another pickup in the state House.

Democrats have vastly expanded their control of the Virginia House of Delegates and in New Jersey's General Assembly, the party gained a supermajority.

In many local races across the country, Democrats touted victories that will reshape their communities, like the flipping of all three city council seats in Georgetown, S.C., the unseating of the last remaining Republican city council member in Orlando, Fla., and winning back mayoral races in Connecticut.

Democrats put money into the election and they got nothing. They have spent zero in this place in the last two presidential elections. It really wasn’t close. All the money republicans spent was in primsry

That last sentence isn't true. There was about 7 million spent overall and 3 million of that was in the primary. There was about 1.5 million that came in towards the end to Epps.

In 2024 Trump was +22 in the county. There was a 13% swing to the Democrats here which matches up exactly with the swings we've seen across the country in this current year voting cycle. It's a trend and it's even a deep red county showing it.

You mean they got a whopping 32000 out of the 41000 votes in Nashville that were cast. Wow that’s amazing 🙄 every other county was insanely red.

Trump got 28k votes to Kamala getting 38k in 2024.

but Davidson is a deep red county you say????

The entire district is deeply red- everybody knows this. Nashville is not, but they are not the entire district. The Cook PVI score for the county is R+10.

Trump got 60.31% of the vote to Kamala's 38.24%....so +22%. Mark Green got 59.50% of the vote in 2024 to Megan Barry's 38.05%....so +21%. Van Epps got 53.91% to Behn's 45.05...so ~9%. You can pretend all you want but when that trend swing is matching up with what we are seeing nationwide it means something.

Coming off the blue wave we saw on election day plus the terrible Trump polling numbers, a smart person can put this all together to get an idea of what is happening.

Looks to me like democrats went out to vote and republicans didn’t feel the need in Nashville. They were correct

The other thing Raiders is ignoring is that in every county that supported Van Epps....his percentage in each area was down. Every single red county he lost ground in.

Keep up the denial over the beginning of the Blue Wave. For a deep-red district to be 22 points ahead for Trump to only 9 points for a Democratic candidate from Congress has set off all kinds of alarm in the Republican Party and indicates where things are headed in 2026, and Trump's actions and lunatic responses to this will only serve to heighten the Blue Wave.

Hopefully, Democratics can take back the House and Senate and kick is sorry ass out of office. The world will be a better place.

At what point in recent history were our borders unchecked?

The border patrol budget under Biden was way higher than at any point during Trump's first term.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/455587/enacted-border-patrol-program-budget-in-the-us/?srsltid=AfmBOoqSkBWjd9yjXn_k4IcHSUf0mUnWSCpUQBrJLyJ55_SSka2hnw4x

So much for your point there.

Also, only far lefties want more socialism, but I'd rather have that than this the authoritarianism that Trump has brought to our country.

It's going to be entertaining to see you and the MAGAs feebly try to deflect from the Blue Tsunami that will wash over our country in 2026.

I'm stocking up on popcorn!

10-12 million illegals entered under Biden. None vetted. What does a budget have to do with that

what rights have you lost under this authoritarian regime. I lost way more under newsoulini than you’ve lost under Trump. Spare me

So the same idiots that were sure MAGA Jack in NJ was going to clean the clock of the Fighter Pilot Mom are crowing over a R underperforming but winning in TEN?   A wins a win...but I wouldn't be too happy with a +9 win a year after a +21 win.  Hopefully, the trends continue.
