LOL

That's like saying ND mollywhopped the college for the blind and deaf.  These results suprised on one

GOP lost races and referendum votes all around the country. Turnouts exceeded expectations for the Dems. Was a good night for the blue ties, very bad night for the MAGAs for sure.

You realize that this sets precedence for every state to do this. And there are far more red states. But I find it funny this is the time that democrats actually care about gerrymandering

As was said before… Texas started us down this path. It would have been political malpractice by Democrats to allow Texas to do that without a response.

Most “red” states are already gerrymandered quite aggressively. Going farther to the extreme is likely to backfire. Many blue states that didn’t gerrymander this bad before? They will. Thwt will shift the balance of power to the Democrats.

One other way it could backfire: if Trump’s approval rating stays in the toilet, some of the gerrymandered districts in red states could cut it too close, allowing a flip to blue.

Bolded is what I fully expect to happen. Some of those new "safe" R seats in TX are relying pretty heavily on maintaining the Latino vote from 2024. Good luck with that.

This path was started by the red states over a decade ago.

Wiki

REDMAP (short for Redistricting Majority Project) is a project of the Republican State Leadership Committee of the United States to increase Republican control of congressional seats, as well as state legislatures, largely through manipulating electoral district boundaries. The project has made effective use of partisan gerrymandering by relying on previously unavailable mapping software, such as Caliper Corporation's Maptitude to improve the precision with which district lines are strategically drawn.[1] The strategy was focused on swing blue states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, where there was a Democratic majority, but which they could swing towards Republican with appropriate redistricting. The project was launched in 2010 and estimated to have cost the Republican party around US$30 million.

What MAGA candidates were on the ballot? Don't conflate republicans with MAGA.

Miyares and Winsome Earl-Sears in VA for 2 easy examples. The ads run against them linked them to Trump. Pretty bad news for Trump when the key to winning is linking your opponent to him.

Not sure about Miyares but Earle’s-Sears wasn’t. Donald never even mentioned her name

Virginia’s Republican lieutenant governor, Winsome Earle-Sears, said in a TV interview Thursday that if Donald Trump makes a third bid for the White House, she would not support him.

Jack Cittareli in NJ is MAGA.  He did worse than Trump did a year ago.

President Trump’s unexpected recent endorsement of Jack Ciattarelli for governor of New Jersey has left many of his most loyal supporters in the recently purpled state stunned and disoriented. To the MAGA faithful, this isn’t merely a questionable political calculation it’s a deeply disheartening betrayal. The decision feels like a bewildering contradiction of everything the America First agenda stands for.

After all, Ciattarelli is not just another Republican with a moderate record. He has previously referred to Donald Trump as a “charlatan” and “an embarrassment to the Republican Party.” These were not off-the-cuff remarks, they were repeated, public attacks on the very leader who now inexplicably offers him his seal of approval. The dissonance is jarring. The Ciatarelli Trump clash wasn’t just about personality it was about vision, values, and direction. Ciattarelli made clear he wanted no part of the very political revolution that reshaped the GOP.

Regardless of the reason, the fallout is undeniable. For many who have stood by President Trump through countless storms who have donated, knocked doors, and defended him against relentless opposition this decision feels like a punch to the gut. The analogy circulating among disillusioned supporters is that of children watching divorced parents; they never expected to feel like their champion had sided with the wrong family.

As somebody who lives close to (but not in) Virginia, I can confirm that Spanberger’s strategy was linking Sears to Trump. Doesn’t even matter if it was true. It had the desired effect. She lost BIGLY because most people hate your daddy.

You’re living in denial, pretending that Trump’s stench hasn’t permeated the entire GOP. It has, and people are sick of it. Less than 1 year and he’s already worn out his welcome. SAD.

The GOP can thank Trump for last night. MAGA will get to the polls for vote for Daddy but he’s down ballot poison. Every Republican took it on the chin because of him.

JD Vance once compared Trump to Hitler.

Eight years ago, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, JD Vance was a bitter critic of Donald Trump.

Publicly, he called the Republican businessman an "idiot" and said he was "reprehensible." Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler.

Yeah, you guys are real strict on that stuff.

Which isn't easy, cause that's where Trump's nuts rest.

I don’t really see much difference but in any case hopefully this momentum carries into midterms, Dems take House next year.

MAGA just means Republicans who bends the knee for Trump. Lyin’ Ted and Little Marco are MAGA now.

Oh really?

Is JD Vance true MAGA?  "I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical a**-hole like Nixon … or that he’s America’s Hitler.  Trump makes people I care about afraid. Immigrants, Muslims, etc.… Because of this I find him reprehensible. God wants better of us.”

Is Marco Rubio true MAGA? “For years to come … many people on the right … will be having to explain and justify how they fell into this trap of supporting Donald Trump.”

Texas started it. That's the precedence. Just because there are more red states doesn't mean Alaska will out-gerrymander California and New York.

And at least California took it to a vote instead of just doing it like Texas did.

This.

If anything, all this redistricting BS (from both sides) should want people to actually have more members of the House; to at least lower the proportion of House Member to Constituency.

The MAGAs would love a one-party system that forces their agenda down everyone's throats instead of a healthy two-party system with checks and balances, compromise and respect.

Instead, their hateful extremism has resulted in an equal and opposite reaction that mildly bit their asses Tuesday and will become a decisive blue chomp in the 2026 midterms.

America has had enough of the diabolical MAGA clown show!

Exactly.  MAGA is not the GOP.  MAGA is bigger.  A bunch of RINOs getting beat is no reflection on MAGA.

Thanks for this; it makes complete sense to me. There are no standards for Don's endorsements, only loyalty and transactional convenience. What you consider the America First agenda is to me a fabrication of the current admin and the right wing media ecosphere to keep folks voting for the Don. The real goals are clear: nothing more than delivering Don whatever he wants. And all he wants is to feed his ego, make more money, and have everyone treat him like hot shlt. He's all flash, no substance. He wants all of the trappings and rewards, but none of the responsibility or work.

He's basically the local pub's most reviled customer: lazy, dumb, complacent, borderline useless and lacking any discernable skills, noisy and completely insufferable in person. Nobody would pay him any attention whatsoever if he hadn't been born on third base and given every opportunity to fail upwards like a good nepo baby.
