Doubt it.  Hopefully they can finally beat Michigan this year.  Last year was a disgrace losing to the D-3 walk on QB than Michigan started.

Bucks are going to be like the Dodgers on college football.  Buy the best players and let them play.

Funny thing is had the college playoffs not been expanded last year Ryan Day might have been fired after his 4th straight loss to Michigan.  Much of the fan base wanted him gone.

Senate Democrats cave, open path to reopening government

The Senate took a massive step forward on its way to reopening the government on Sunday, with a group of Senate Democrats caving and joining Republicans in their bid to pass a revamped plan to end the shutdown.

Signs that the shutdown, which entered its 40th day, could be ending became more and more clear as the day went on, particularly with the unveiling of a bipartisan package of spending bills that lawmakers hope to attach to a modified bill to reopen the government.

Eight Senate Democrats crossed the aisle to mark the first step in the GOP’s quest to end the shutdown. Many of the lawmakers that splintered from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., were among those engaged in bipartisan talks over the last several weeks.

Had a great time last night despite the Steelers playing so terribly. So Fi is a fun place to watch a football game. It was cool seeing Keenan Allen break the Chargers receiving record; that was a nice moment. 
 

The Steelers need to draft a quarterback, that’s their first priority. But their overpaid aging defense is also a big problem. It may be a while before this team gets back to the SB. And as much as I love and defend Mike Tomlin, it may be time to move on in a different direction.

I live in one of those states that has banned bags at grocery stores.  It's slowly being implemented so now you can get them but they charge you a dime a bag and only give the old school paper bags.  And eventually they won't give bags at all.  So I have to buy plastic bags off Amazon for cleaning the cat box.  Dumb.

At Publix after they bag your groceries they ask if you want them to help you bring out your groceries. Most of the baggers at my local Publix are 70+ . It’s so weird

Ugh. Yet another reason to not own cats. I bought huge, strong, reusable grocery bags years ago. They are awesome. I get pissed when I have more than a couple dozen plastic grocery bags at home since they're only used to line small trash baskets. I haven't fully given up on being a good steward of the planet, just mostly.

Here it is not banned, but grocery store dependent.  The big chains (Frys/Kroger, Albertson/Safeway) still use them.  Whole Foods (Amazon) uses paper bags, and Sprouts charges you for bags if you don't bring your own.

I just looked on Amazon and you can buy a dispenser for the grocery bags:

Speaking of UCLA, kind of big news for them: they’re moving to So Fi where I was last night:

This makes a lot of sense. The Rose Bowl is old and antiquated, So Fi is brand new. The Rose Bowl is a long drive from the campus, has way too many seats which always makes Bruin games feel half empty. Plus it was never the traditional home of UCLA football; they only started playing there in the 80s. Before that they shared the Colisseum with USC, another really old venue and also right next to USC. 
 

So hopefully this news will bring some energy to this program, help with recruiting, etc. I might be interested in season tickets depending on the price. It’s a much easier drive for me.

I like the Trojans this year. I thought they could have beaten Notre Dame but blew it. 
Of course I’m hoping the Bruins can be competitive with them in a couple of weeks, maybe get an upset. Not holding my breath as USC is clearly a much better team.

My cat is 17 now. She remains in good health with lots of energy. I will be absolutely miserable when she finally passes. Life won’t be the same without her.

I will add a caveat: I would own cats if I lived in the country and/or had a rodent problem in my house. Those are the acceptable conditions for cat ownership.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind cats. They're just far inferior to dogs, and make the inside of your house smell like excrement. I can do that on my own if I'm eating right.

Pish posh.   As a matter of FACT.  yesterday before the Lions game, I laid on my couch to take a quick 1/2 hour snooze.  Something felt off.  So I got up, grabbed my cat Molly, and put her on my lap while I napped.  And she stayed.  And I was thinking  "who wouldn't like this"

When I moved years ago my buddy who worked for a milk distributor gave me 6 hard plastic milk containers. 

Now I take 2 of them when I shop and pack them myself.  So much easier carrying putting in my vehicle and carrying in the house.

Boo fockin hoo. 2-2 in the SB in the last 30 years (off the top of my head, could be wrong).

Allow me to introduce you to the Minnesota Vikings. Almost always good, never quite good enough. 0-7 in their last 7 NFCCG appearances spanning my entire life.

The eternal debate: what's worse, being a fan of a team that never competes, or one that regularly does, just never wins a title? When the teams suck, you can ignore them and miss nothing. When they're just good, you feel compelled to pay attention while knowing it will end poorly.
