Voltaire 5,502 Posted 5 hours ago I'm surprised the Lions are favored over the Packers. I'm glad there are believers out there but I'm pessimistic. The Packers were the better team on opening day despite playing the Lions at full strength. Now, with so much of the team injured, I don't see how things have gotten anything but worse for Detroit. Granted its a home game.

Mean Lions at home on Thanksgiving tradition can come into play. I remember back before online gambling Lions were favored on Thanksgiving even when they were a terrble team. Granted its a home game. They are a whopping half game back of GB becauee of their tie. My God Lions fans have morphed over these few years. They are 7-4, you act like they are terrible. Bizarre. You cant believe the are small favorites at home?

They aren't terrible, at equal strength I'd still take them at -3 over GB, although that wasn't the case earlier this year. What remains is still really good but they're playing one of the best teams in the league at 70% strength. To get a 'sure' spot the playoffs in the NFC, teams are going to need 10 1/2 or 11 wins, which the Lions should be worth 4-2 to get there. SF too and they're even more shredded than the Lions. The Lions have four medium strength teams (Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Minnesota) to go where they should be favored to win and two great ones (LA Rams and GB Packers) where I think they should be underdogs, but in GB's case, it turns out are not. I'm looking at the Bears as likely to be the last NFC team without a musical chairs seat since their remaining schedule has been backloaded with top shelf teams, but they can still make it if they pull two upsets or get help. Lions have had injuries no doubt. But you consistently act like no other team has injuries. The Packers have had their #1 WR out pretty much all year. Their #2 missed what? 6 or 7 games coming off acl? Wicks has missed a handful. Golden missed a few. Their TE who was playing like the best TE in legaue out for year a few weeks ago. Didnt have Jacobs last week. Im not comparing the sheer number to Detroit, but has GB been healthy? What if the Lions had that offense? Their TE just went out. Ok. Now take St Brown out since week 1. Jameo out for half thr games. And other WR missing handfuls. Lol. Oh and have Gibbs miss a game for good measure.

I remember sitting around the lunch room table with friends in middle school, talking about the rumors that we may end up getting Joe Montana and how he might have been in our town looking for a potential home. Those are some of my earliest memories being a fan.

Granted its a home game. interesting take. Doesn't GB have a bunch of injured WRs and a star RB who we all thought might miss multiple weeks after the Giants game? Most teams are dealing with injuries. 2 good teams playing each other on thanksgiving, i'd assume the home team is favored.
Voltaire 5,502 Posted 1 hour ago What crap the Lions had at QB all my life until Matt Stafford came along as the #1 pick the year after 0-16. And we had crap goaltending in hockey at the same time. Those were otherwise Super Bowl or Stanley Cup caliber teams, but then two steps down since the most important position was occupied by the nightmare incompetence of Tim Chevaldae and Bob Essenza in hockey and Rodney Peete or Scott Mitchell in football. Eventually the Red Wings found above average goaltending and won Cups with Mike Vernon and Chris Osgood plus a third with the outstanding goaltending of Dominik Hasek. Unfortunately. the Lions never found the answer. They only ever trotted out pure cr@pola QBs and so those Barry teams of the 90s that were always good enough to make the playoffs, would inevitably get bounced in the first round, except the one year they got to the NFC Championship.
