Tourney legal, you can't have more than 4 of a single card in your deck besides land.

I still think you are focking with me.

Legal, you can't have more than 4 of a single card in the deck. A few cards are restricted to 1 per deck. Tournament legal, can't have some cards, period. Had Icatician Javelineers for example, which are banned in tournaments. Had a few others that were banned in tournaments.

If they are banned at tournaments then wtf is the reason for even creating them let alone having them

When magic was originally created there were ante cards because each person would ante up one of their cards and the winner would get a card from the opponent. That went away in the 4th set. Those cards were banned. There was one other card that was banned when I quit playing, cant remember what it did.

Sometimes they make cards and then they get added to the banned or restricted lists later. It's mostly older cards from old sets.

This. The cards don't start out banned, they get banned to keep one deck build from dominating too badly.

Nothing wrong with icatian javilineers, they aren't on any banned or restricted list.

Holy Sh!t! I know I shouldn't be, but I am amazed at how many of you not only know what this game is, but actually played it.

Didn't you guys have bikes, skateboards, baseball gloves, playboy mags or a focking can to kick around?

The reason I started this thread is because I'm going through my "collection" and am going to ebay the rest of my cards that are worth a sh1t in the next few weeks.

Some calculating has turned out to be about $1600.00 for about 15-20 cards or so.

Fortunately, or unfortunately I have found something very interesting with this in the last few days.

Apparently there is something called Summer Magic Edgar misprint cards.

http://www.ebay.com/gds/MTG-Summer-Magic-and-Alt-4th-How-to-identify-them-/10000000003007299/g.html

The fortunate thing is that these misprints happened at the time I was buying them.

The unfortunate thing is now I have to go through 3000+ cards (including lands) to see if I might have have one.

Look at the prices on this , though...All Revised and some 4th Edition

Commons, uncommons, rares...Don't mean a thing with these, it seems

Yea I rode bikes, skateboards, played basketball, read and watched porn and kicked plenty of cans in addition to playing Magic and even dungeons and dragons as a kid. It ain't one or the other unless you are socially inept, which I was not.

Sure. We had a clubhouse in the storm drains plastered with pron. Hell, for about a year and a half, my brother and I were selling early incarnations of digital pron on floppy disks at our respective schools. That and the anarchist's cookbook. The FBI actually came sniffing around my brothers school.

We would leave the house at dawn on our bikes and not come back till well past dusk.

Baseball, football, bottle rocket wars, and lots of petty vandalism. We did all of it.

And we played cards and nintendo too. You have a sh!tload of free time when you are 11-15 as I recall.

There's another game that a lot of nerdy people play that I've seen but don't know what it's called or how it's played. When we would go to the Alamo Drafthouse to watch a movie they had this comic book store inside the theater so sometimes while we waited for the theater we were going to be in to open up we would browse in there. The nerdy guys had this big board/platform in the comic book store that had little handmade and hand painted castles on it along with hand painted figures of soldiers and such. They would have them set up and use a tape measure to measure the distance between the two opposing sides soldiers. That's about all I really saw of it but they were playing some kind of game. Any ideas of what it was?

Likely Warhammer 40k. There's a new movie coming out about it.

How the hell do you even play that and what was the tape measure for?

Never played. I know the tape measure is for movement, different types can move different distances per turn.

Not really.

There was a store in the town I lived in in Tennessee that all they sold was board games and cards. You could go there pretty much anytime and play random board games with whoever was there. It was fun. I used to go from time to time.

There was one in my town as well... closed down shortly after video games started getting really popular, PS 3 / X-Box days.

This one opened in 2014, and was still there as of August 2015, last time I was in town.

Of course, that town has a university with 20,000+ students, so nerd culture does well there. Hell, there is a hobbit themed bar for christ sake.

The one reoccurring nightmare I have is the selling of my magic cards.

I have stated this multiple times, but I did sell my cards for thousands of dollars, however today they would be worth at least 50k and make be in the 6 digits

A crappy 3 dollar card like sliver Queen is worth 75 dollars today, etc. Only reason I checked that is because of the recent silver queen thread.

Meh, you weren't buying them for an investment. You played the game right? Any extra $ from selling them is gravy.

Yeah. Never heard of that one. In my day (circa 1994-1995) black lotus, royal assassin, sylvan dragon were the money cards.
