East Coast Beach Towns

Recommended Posts

Besides the usual suspects, are their any decent North East beach towns that are family friendly?

Dewey Beach?

Avalon?

Been going to LBI and want a change of pace.

I really like North Wildwood. Ocean City MD is nice too.

Ocean City, NJ - Decent boardwalk, big beach. The sole issue is that it is a dry town, which means that if you want to go out, you have to go to a neighboring town

Bethany Beach, DE - Quiet town loaded with young families. Much less trashy than Dewey

North Wildwood, NJ - Close enough to the Wildwood boardwalk, but far enough from the white trash that goes there and lives in its shadow.

You could go north and do Block Island or Portsmouth, RI.

Thanks all. Always went to Ocean City as a youth and had fun. I wouldn't be able to relax there now tho. Been goin to LBI for years and it's loosing its steam with the family.

I appreciate your feedback and appreciate anyone else's opinion.

The ideal spot wil have a small amusement park and a water park with good local food and beaches.

Ain't asking for too much. ;)

North Wildwood is nice. We go every year. A 3- BR / 2 bathroom condo a block from the boardwalk runs around $2,200. Our place is at the tail end of the boardwalk so at night it's very clean and quiet in our area, not rowdy at all. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the rides and such. Lots of good restaurants, not a dry town. The kids love it.

Next weekend, I'm taking my first LBI trip of the summer. My in-laws have a house there. You'd think that's great, but they are insanely controlling. I just learned that they will not be there on Saturday or Sunday.

It depends on what your family likes to do on vacation. When I was a kid we would go to Little Compton, RI and spend the week just going to the beaches, eating seafood and spending time together as a family.

If you want more daytime/nighttime options then Wildwood, NJ, Newport, RI, Cape Cod, MA

Delaware is growing in popularity, I'm sure there are many beach town that will cater to families.

There is in-law family there for me too. It's nice, they own several popular locations and allow us to use their boat dock on the bay. It's the perfect location, we just beat it to death the past 10 years and I want to mix it up a bit.

Cape May. You're welcome.

Great place

Looks nice and what I'm looking for.

Anything I need to consider there? There will be 14 people and rent a 5 plus bedroom house.

It's a Coast Guard Training Center so you might want to check the dates you're interested in aren't graduation weekend as place will be swamped.
